Full Job Description
We are currently seeking an experienced Hybrid Paralegal (Litigation) to join our team. This is an important and high-responsibility role supporting a busy, fast-paced practice.

This position is best suited to someone who is confident, proactive, and highly organized, with a strong sense of urgency and follow-through. The successful candidate will be someone who enjoys being relied upon, takes ownership of tasks, and is comfortable working in an environment where strong communication, responsiveness, and attention to detail are essential.

While this role is primarily focused on LAA responsibilities, it will also include paralegal-level tasks depending on the candidate's skill set and experience. This is not a traditional billing-focused paralegal role, but rather a hybrid support position for someone who enjoys variety and is capable of handling both administrative and more substantive file-related work.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a wide range of legal administrative and litigation support, including:

  • Preparing correspondence and documents using digital dictation, email instructions, copy typing, and handwritten notes (Word and Outlook)
  • Laise with other lawyers and associates on file materials
  • Drafting standard letters, pleadings, and court documents using precedents
  • Managing court filing deadlines and coordinating hearing dates
  • Scheduling trials, discoveries, and related litigation steps, and preparing required documentation
  • Preparing pleadings, affidavits, lists of documents, and document briefs
  • Opening files and maintaining electronic and physical filing systems
  • Maintaining bring-forward systems to ensure timely follow-up and receipt of requested materials
  • Preparing invoices and posting time (Acumin accounting software)
  • Performing other related duties as required

Qualifications
  • Graduate of a Legal Administrative Assistant Program or similar education and experience
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience as a Legal Administrative Assistant in a litigation practice
  • Strong working knowledge of litigation procedures and court processes
  • Experience with Provincial Court and Supreme Court matters
  • Familiarity with the Rules of Court
  • Experience drafting standard correspondence is an asset
  • Experience with billing/invoicing processes in a legal environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with clients, lawyers, and staff
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing assignments and practice areas
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
