SUMMARY: We are seeking a Controls Engineer for a hybrid position to support existing customer control systems in the field while developing into a lead role responsible for control panel design, standardization, and lifecycle management. This role begins with a strong emphasis on troubleshooting, commissioning, and customer-facing technical support, and transitions into ownership of control panel engineering, documentation, and design standards across the business. The ideal candidate combines hands-on electrical/controls troubleshooting ability with the ambition and capability to grow into a design authority and program leader.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot dust collection system motor control panels, PLC systems, and field instrumentation both on-site at customer locations and remotely, ensuring timely resolution of issues.
  • Support startup, commissioning of control systems.
  • Work directly with customers' maintenance and engineering teams to resolve operational issues.
  • Identify recurring issues and recommend design improvements and standardization opportunities.
  • Provide technical support for service teams and sales during project execution.
  • Document field findings, updates, and corrective actions.
  • Partner with sales to identify and stock key items supporting installed systems.
  • Other duties as assigned.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3-7+ years of experience in:
  • Industrial controls troubleshooting
  • PLC programming (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.)
  • Electrical control panels and field systems
  • Strong understanding of: Motor controls, VFDs, and instrumentation
  • Industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, etc.)
  • Willingness to travel (~25-50%) for field support and commissioning


WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to office, warehouse, and plant environments. The work environment will require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in certain areas. Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.
