SUMMARY

The HVAC Service Manager supports multiple account leaders in delivering integrated trades services across a regional portfolio of accounts, ensuring consistent execution of all HVAC and Refrigeration work duties. This role provides hands-on leadership to a mobile, multi-discipline team of tradespeople operating across multiple client sites, driving quality workmanship, schedule adherence, and compliance with all applicable codes and safety standards.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

People Leadership

Demonstrates strong, competent leadership for a multi-trade team, guiding members to reach their full potential and meet performance objectives in support of our corporate goals. Specifically, these responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Participates fully in recruiting talent.


  • Provides mentoring, coaching, and guidance to all team members.


  • Objectively recommends compensation adjustments.


  • Manages all aspects of performance.


Trades Operations Management

  • Coordinates daily work scheduling and regional deployment of a mobile trades team across all trade disciplines (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and general maintenance) to ensure timely completion of preventive and corrective maintenance work orders across multiple client accounts.


  • Leads the implementation of trades-related facility management programs and program enhancements across the regional portfolio, driving consistency and quality in program execution across all client accounts and sites.


  • Overall accountability for the Optimized Maintenance Plan (OMP) and Scope of Work (SOW) for trades service agreements across all accounts in the regional portfolio, ensuring all planned maintenance activities are documented and executed on schedule.


  • Directly responsible for day-to-day supervision of a regional mobile multi-trade team, including journeypersons, apprentices, and general maintenance technicians deployed across multiple client accounts and sites throughout the region.


  • Responsible for development and maintenance of all trades-related standard operating procedures, safe work practices, and work instructions in accordance with applicable codes and regulatory requirements.


  • Leads the regional trades team in the continuous identification of cost savings opportunities across all accounts, including labour efficiency, mobile resource optimization, materials management, and service consolidation.


  • Identifies and recommends opportunities to reduce and/or consolidate trade services to the Operations Manager and the client, minimizing duplication of effort across disciplines.


  • Recommends and assists in developing and executing cost savings initiatives in collaboration with account leadership.


Client Satisfaction

  • Identifies, recommends, and implements initiatives to achieve greater client satisfaction related to trades service delivery across the regional portfolio, including improved communication, faster response times, and quality assurance programs.


  • Collaborates with account leaders across multiple accounts to review, develop, and refine service delivery programs that enhance client communication and satisfaction with trades operations throughout the regional portfolio.


  • Leads the implementation of client satisfaction programs across all accounts in the regional portfolio, ensuring the mobile trades team represents the organization professionally on every client site.


  • Reports on regional trades service delivery progress and performance to account leaders and senior management, and participates in client-facing meetings and reviews across the portfolio as required.


Service Delivery - Performance Management

  • Accountable for collaborating with multiple account leaders and relevant stakeholders to ensure trades service delivery performance objectives are met consistently across all accounts within the regional portfolio.


  • Conducts regular reviews of trades programs and work order completion to ensure all requirements are delivered in accordance with the master services agreement and client expectations.


  • Identifies shortcomings in trades service levels across the regional portfolio and provides recommendations to account leaders to enhance team performance and service quality.


  • Collaborates with account leaders to develop and implement action plans to address performance gaps within the regional mobile trades team and drive continuous improvement across all accounts.


  • Collaborates with relevant stakeholders to ensure all capital planning and deferred maintenance requirements related to trades are identified, documented, budgeted, and recommended to the appropriate clients across the regional portfolio.


Third Party Service Providers - Performance Management (Subcontracted Trades, Specialty Vendors, and Suppliers)

  • Supports performance management of subcontracted trades and specialty service providers through activities including but not limited to establishment and measurement of key performance indicators, site inspections, and regular business reviews.


  • Collaborates with the Procurement team to support contract development and review for subcontracted trades service providers across all accounts within the regional portfolio.


KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Journeyperson certification in the HVAC/Refrigeration trade with demonstrated supervisory experience, typically from 3-5 years of progressive field and leadership experience.


  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with front-line tradespeople, subcontractors, clients, and management in both field and office settings.


  • Demonstrated experience supervising or leading diverse trade crews, with a working knowledge of applicable occupational health and safety legislation, building codes, and maintenance best practices.


  • Previous experience in preparing installation quotations and overseeing small-scale project management.


  • Demonstrates a strong safety-driven mindset, consistently prioritizing and promoting safe work practices to ensure compliance with established regulations and the well-being of all personnel.


Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation

  • Journeyperson Red Seal (Interprovincial) certification in the HVAC trade is preferred. A valid driver's licence is required. Additional certifications such as First Aid, WHMIS, Working at Heights, and Confined Space Entry are considered strong assets.

This is a regular, full-time position with an annual salary range of $96,322 - $120,402 per annum. The starting salary will be based on the successful candidate's competencies, including but not limited to experience, education and performance related to this role.
