HVAC Retrofit Foreman

Location: Phoenix, AZ
Pay: Approximately $40 per hour DOE (Depending on Experience)
Employment Type: Full-Time

About the Position

We are seeking an experienced HVAC Retrofit Foreman to lead commercial HVAC retrofit and replacement projects throughout the Phoenix area.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on field leader with strong commercial HVAC experience who can supervise crews, coordinate subcontractors, manage daily field activities, and ensure retrofit projects are completed safely, efficiently, and according to plans and specifications.

This position is responsible for providing day-to-day leadership in the field while maintaining a strong understanding of HVAC installation, equipment replacement, piping, ductwork, controls, and system commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise HVAC crews on commercial retrofit and equipment replacement projects.
  • Coordinate daily manpower, materials, equipment, and job-site activities.
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, plans, specifications, and equipment schedules.
  • Coordinate installation of rooftop units, air handlers, package units, split systems, heat pumps, and other HVAC equipment.
  • Oversee installation and modification of ductwork, piping, controls, and related mechanical systems.
  • Ensure work is completed according to project plans, specifications, schedules, and quality standards.
  • Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, general contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and building representatives.
  • Track project progress and communicate field conditions, delays, material needs, and potential issues to management.
  • Identify and resolve field conflicts and constructability issues.
  • Ensure crews have the correct materials, tools, drawings, and equipment needed to complete work.
  • Perform quality-control inspections and verify installations before equipment start-up and commissioning.
  • Assist with equipment start-ups, testing, commissioning, and project closeout.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and professional job site.
  • Enforce company safety policies and ensure crew members follow OSHA and project-specific requirements.
  • Train, mentor, and provide direction to HVAC technicians and installers.
  • Maintain daily reports, time records, material tracking, and project documentation.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of commercial HVAC experience, with previous foreman or lead experience preferred.
  • Proven experience leading HVAC installation or retrofit crews.
  • Strong understanding of commercial HVAC systems and construction practices.
  • Experience with HVAC equipment replacement and retrofit projects.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications.
  • Strong knowledge of ductwork, piping, equipment, controls, and HVAC installation.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple crews and activities on an active construction site.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot field issues and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • OSHA 10/30 certification is a plus.

Preferred Experience

Experience with:

  • Commercial HVAC retrofit projects
  • Rooftop unit replacements
  • Air handlers and AHUs
  • Chillers and boilers
  • Heat pumps
  • VAV systems
  • HVAC piping and hydronic systems
  • Ductwork installation and modifications
  • HVAC controls and BAS
  • Equipment rigging and replacement
  • Start-up and commissioning
  • Large commercial or industrial facilities

Compensation

Approximately $40 per hour DOE (Depending on Experience).

Compensation will be based on commercial HVAC experience, leadership ability, technical knowledge, and experience managing retrofit projects and field crews.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a working HVAC Foreman-not simply a service technician. You should be comfortable taking ownership of the job site, directing crews, coordinating with other trades, communicating with project management, and making sure the work gets completed correctly and on schedule.

We are looking for someone who can lead from the front, understands commercial HVAC installation, and can take responsibility for the day-to-day execution of retrofit projects.

If you're an experienced commercial HVAC professional ready to take the lead on major retrofit projects in the Phoenix market, we'd like to hear from you.
