Northrop Grumman is currently seeking a Level 3 HVAC Mechanic to provide support to our Aerospace Structures team located on site in Melbourne, Florida.

Essential Functions:
  • Manage the maintenance and general upkeep of chilled water plants / hydronic cooling systems ranging from [redacted] tons or more, to include centrifugal chiller operation, chilled and condenser water pumps, cooling towers, air management, water chemistry Building Automation Controls, and associated ancillary equipment
  • Access Building Automation Systems to evaluate plants and large HVAC equipment for proper operation, adjust setpoints and schedules, perform equipment rotations, remotely troubleshoot malfunctions, read and act upon alarms
  • Installs, services, modifies, rebuilds, and repairs air-conditioning and refrigeration systems and equipment in an industrial or commercial establishment in accordance with applicable building codes and safety regulations
  • Diagnosing and troubleshooting system malfunctions, then performing the appropriate HVAC system repairs
  • Service evaporative condensers, exhaust fans, water-source heat pumps, Liebert CRAC units, and heating equipment
  • Charges air-conditioning systems with refrigerant; checks and tests for leaks
  • Receive and execute work orders through a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) to maintain accurate records
  • Occasionally assist other trades, including electrical, plumbing, maintenance mechanics, etc.
  • All other duties as assigned


Basic Qualifications for a Level 3 HVAC Mechanic:
  • High School Diploma/GED and 4 years of experience servicing large commercial HVAC, Chillers, Cooling Tower, Plumbing and Mechanical Systems
  • Valid Florida Driver's license with the ability to safely operate large box truck weighing 10,001 - 26,000 lbs
  • Must be capable of lifting 50+lbs, climbing a ladder, reaching overhead, bending down, full use of both hands, withstanding extreme temperature and/or humidity
  • Must have an EPA 608 certification
  • Must have the flexibility to occasionally work off shifts and weekends when required. Position may be flexed to second shift
  • Must be able to transfer or obtain and maintain the final adjudicated U.S. Government Top-Secret Clearance and any program accesses required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the enterprise


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Maximo Experience
  • Flexibility to occasionally work off shifts and weekends when required
  • Welding and/or pipefitting experience/certification
  • Active, In scope DoD Top Secret or SCI clearance
  • Experience modifying/installing duct work
  • Experience working in classified spaces, in or around engineering and manufacturing environments
  • Vocational and/or post-secondary education
  • Experience with moving heavy equipment (pallet jack, wheel truck, forklifts, scissor lifts, booms lifts)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Positive customer service experience

Primary Level Salary Range: $62,700.00 - $104,500.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
