The Human Resources Operations Manager leads Prairie Field Services' human resources infrastructure with a focus on operational precision, systems automation, and talent strategy. The role is responsible for modernizing and tightly managing the company's core HR systems - including attendance, payroll, and Driver Qualification (DQ) files - through heavy use of AI and automation tools to improve speed, accuracy, and auditability. The position also directs the company's Talent Acquisition/Marketing Specialist and leads companywide recruiting and retention strategy, new hire orientation, social media and marketing efforts, company-branded merchandise programs, short and long term disability case management, and benefits and 401(k) vendor relationships. The position reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO).
Responsibilities
• Leads the identification, implementation, and ongoing use of AI and automation tools across HR functions to improve speed, accuracy, and consistency companywide
• Automates and continuously improves the company's attendance tracking system and attendance policy enforcement
• Automates and continuously improves, in conjunction with the finance team, the company's payroll process to ensure accurate, timely, and auditable employee pay
• Automates and manages the company's Driver Qualification (DQ) files to ensure ongoing compliance with FMCSA/DOT recordkeeping requirements
• Directs and manages the Talent Acquisition/Marketing Specialist, including direction, workload, and performance management
• Leads companywide recruiting and retention strategy to attract, hire, and retain qualified drivers and staff
• Oversees the company's social media presence, and marketing initiatives
• Oversees (through the direct report's efforts) company events
• Manages the company's branded merchandise program, including item creation, budgeting, purchasing, distribution, and tracking of feedback
• Oversees the new hire orientation process in partnership with the other managers responsible for onboarding
• Manages short and long term disability cases from initiation through resolution
• Builds and maintains strong working relationships with benefits and 401(k) providers to ensure competitive offerings and vendor accountability
• Drives employee education, participation, and engagement in benefits and 401(k) programs
• Ensures HR recordkeeping across all functions is accurate, tightly organized, and audit-ready at all times
• Reports on recruiting, retention, compliance, and HR systems performance to the COO & leadership team
• Leads HR initiatives in adherence to Prairie Field Services' mission, vision, and values
• Manages the company's third-party website designer/developer to keep the company website current, accurate, and up to date
Performs all other essential duties as assigned
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or related field, or equivalent experience preferred
• 5+ years of progressive HR experience; experience in trucking, oilfield services, or another safety- and compliance-driven industry preferred
• Demonstrated experience leveraging AI, HRIS, payroll, or automation platforms to modernize HR operations
• Working knowledge of DOT/FMCSA Driver Qualification file requirements and recordkeeping/retention standards
• Experience leading full-cycle recruiting and retention programs, ideally for drivers or field-based staff
• Working knowledge of ADA, FMLA, and short/long term disability case management processes
• Experience managing vendor relationships, particularly benefits brokers and 401(k) providers
• Exceptional organizational skills with an exacting attention to detail and recordkeeping accuracy
• Prior supervisory experience, with the ability to manage and develop a direct report
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate at all levels within the company
• Proficient in MS Windows and MS Office; quick to adopt and champion new HR technology and AI tools
• Ability to travel as needed to company locations across Wyoming, North Dakota, Montana, and New Mexico
• Ability to prioritize competing demands and stay focused on the highest value-add actions
