  • Ensure adherence to employment laws and regulations, including EEOC, FLSA, and FMLA.
  • Create and update HR policies and procedures, including the employee handbook.
  • Implement performance management systems and provide a framework for performance evaluations.
  • Collaborate with directors for employee offboarding and alignment with organizational goals.

Full Job Description
POSITION TITLE: Human Resources Manager

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full-Time, Exempt with Full benefits package

REPORTS TO: Executive Director

WORKS CLOSELY WITH: Directors and office management team

AVAILABILITY: In Person

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Joyce Theater Foundation, New York's leading dance presenting organization, seeks a Human Resources Manager to oversee all aspects of The Joyce's human resources functions including recruitment, employee relations, compensation, benefits, training, and compliance. This individual will assist with developing and implementing HR policies, manage employee relations issues (100+ part-time and full-time employees with varying schedules), and ensure the organization attracts, retains, and develops a high-performing workforce.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing the full recruitment cycle, from job postings and interviews to onboarding new hires.
  • Handling employee complaints, grievances, and disciplinary actions, while fostering a positive work environment.
  • Overseeing compensation and benefits programs, conducting salary surveys, and ensuring competitive and equitable pay structures.
  • Identifying training needs, developing training programs, and facilitating employee development initiatives.
  • Ensuring adherence to employment laws and regulations, including EEOC, FLSA, and FMLA.
  • Creating and updating HR policies and procedures, including the employee handbook.
  • Implementing performance management systems and providing a framework for constructive and timely performance evaluations.
  • Working collaboratively with directors to offboard departing employees.
  • Collaborating with senior leadership to understand The Joyce's goals.
  • Developing and implementing HR strategies aligned with The Joyce's goals and objectives.


additional duties:

  • HRIS Management: Managing and maintaining The Joyce's HR information systems.
  • Employee Engagement: Developing and implementing initiatives to enhance employee morale and engagement.
  • Workplace safety: Ensuring a safe and healthy work environment, including developing and implementing safety policies and procedures.
  • Labor Relations: Assist witih managing labor relations, including collective bargaining agreements and grievance procedures.
  • Data Analysis: Analyzig HR data to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement.
  • Budget Management: Developing and managing the HR departmental fiscal year budget.

STARTING SALARY: $80,000 to $85,000/year.
