What You'll Do:

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for coordinating the implementation of people-related services, policies, and programs and assisting and advising company leadership, as well as developing processes and metrics that support the achievement of Pet Food Experts' (PFX) business goals. This role is a combination of administrative and strategic HR support for the assigned Distribution Centers located within the United States.
  • Lead Human Resources practices and objectives which provide an employee-oriented, high-performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality, productivity, standards, goal attainment, recruitment and ongoing development of a superior workforce
  • Participate in developing, recommending, implementing, communicating and upholding personnel policies and procedures
  • Ensure policies are reviewed, amended and communicated to employees in a timely manner, as needed, based on changes to legislation and/or internal processes and practices and environment
  • Provide consultation, facilitation and resolution strategies for workplace issues by assisting in communications between employees and Distribution Center management, corrective action and planning, disciplinary actions, and explanation and clarification of PFX policies and procedures
  • Investigate and resolve employee grievances and transgressions
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local employment laws (e.g. ADA, ACA, FLSA, Title VII, FMLA, ERISA, DOL, OSHA)
  • Work closely with DC leadership/Office Managers and vendors on Workers' Compensation claims, acting as a liaison between management, claims adjusters and injured employee; follow claim progress including diagnosis, prognosis and return to work efforts, assist with resolutions in workers' compensation-related issues or disputes and legal/litigation activities
  • Work closely with DC leaders/Office Managers and vendors on ADA cases, acting as a liaison between management, healthcare provider(s) and employee including interactive process and reasonable accommodation requests
  • Investigate issues including, but not limited to: harassment, discrimination, working conditions, disciplinary action, employee and applicant appeals and grievances
  • Evaluate reports, decisions and results of department initiatives in relation to established goals
  • Participate in administrative staff meetings and attend other meetings, such as Workforce Planning, senior management meetings and panel interviews, as necessary
  • Play a key role in a range of HR related projects with a focus on talent-related initiatives (recruiting, training, engagement, etc.)
  • Support Human Resources needs across the PFX network when requested.
  • Travel, up to 15%, to Pet Food Experts distribution centers region-wide will be required.

What We're Looking For:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred (HR degree, a plus)
  • SHRM Certification a plus
  • Minimum 3 years of HR experience with a strong focus on employee relations, especially in a warehouse or distribution center environment.
  • Experience working with HRIS system preferred, Paylocity a plus
  • Proven working experience as HR support in a distribution/manufacturing environment
  • In-depth knowledge and interpretation of HR best practices
  • Show confidence with independent decision making
  • Understand, interpret, and apply company and departmental policies and procedures
  • Ability to work effectively with multiple levels of management and work both independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively in a team environment
  • Exhibit an outgoing, people-oriented, helpful and positive attitude with a customer-centric approach to working with internal and external stakeholders

Travel may be required
