Asahi Kasei is a long-trusted supplier of lithium-ion battery separators - polymer-based microporous membranes that are a key component of the lithium batteries used to power electric vehicles, renewable energy storage systems, and more. We are currently seeking applications to fill the following job opening at Asahi Kasei Battery Separator Canada, where we are in the process of constructing a new lithium battery separator manufacturing facility to support increasing North American demand. Company: Asahi Kasei Battery Separator Canada Corporation Job Description: We are seeking a Human Resources Generalist to be a part of a new plant start-up based in Port Colborne, Ontario. The Human Resources Generalist plays a key role in supporting the integrity, efficiency, and compliance of the HR function. This position will be responsible for execution of core HR processes, contributes to ongoing process improvements, and helps with maintaining consistent and high-standard employee experience across the organization. This position is a new role for the organization. Reporting Relationships This position is directly reported to the Human Resources Manager. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Project Phase Responsibilities With the Human Resources Manager, this position will: 34 Continue the creation of HR documents such as policies, programs and reporting to support the growing company. 34 Create job descriptions based on our company's needs and hiring. 34 Create and execute full onboarding program for new hires in collaboration with EHS and department managers. 34 Assist in developing training processes and documentation. 34 Attend local career, job and experience fairs to educate community and education institutions about the company's future and current job openings. General HR Responsibilities 34 Support the current and future business needs through employee engagement and development. 34 Advise and support supervisors and operational leaders on day-to-day employee relations matters. 34 Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records in accordance with retention and privacy requirements. 34 Complete HR reports, ensuring accuracy and reliability of the data. 34 Contributes to the creation, review and maintenance of HR documents such as policies, forms, and templates. 34 Respond to internal queries regarding HR procedures and assist in providing consistent and clear guidance. 34 Work closely with recruitment team to help refine and implement strategies that align with business goals locally. 34 Manage the onboarding process and conduct New Hire Orientation with all new employees. 34 Work with the Administration Team on employee engagement and recognition initiatives. 34 Work with the Centre of Expertise at AKA as needed to facilitate HR programs such as administering benefits, reviews, training and compensation analysis. 34 Administer and monitor the Attendance Management Program. 34 Conduct workplace investigations and provide recommendations for resolution, ensuring alignment with company policies and best practices. 34 Prepare counseling and discipline letters and attend discipline meetings in conjunction with leaders. 34 Support ESA leaves and disability processes such as STD and LTD, including employee follow-up and return-to-work coordination. Key Skills and Abilities: 34 Experience working with Workday or similar HRIS system. 34 Must be proactive, self-motivated, customer-focused, and solution-oriented. 34 Ability to foster and maintain relationships with employees at all levels within the organization. 34 Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to influence and support leaders. 34 Comfortable developing and executing plans, promoting ideas, and implementing initiatives. 34 Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with discretion. 34 Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines in fast-paced environments. 34 Must be proficient in use of MS Office products. Qualifications Education Background: 34 Minimum post-secondary education - bachelor's degree in a human resources related discipline. 34 Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) with the HRPA preferred. 34 Experience with Workday HRIS system an asset. Knowledge & Experience: 34 5+ years of hands-on experience in human resources. 34 Hands-on experience or strong exposure to start-up of facilities is an asset. Expected Compensation: 34 Salary based position with a range of $80,000.00 to $90,000.00 based on education and experience. 34 Incentive program, Group medical & dental benefits, Registered Retirement Savings Plan. Travel: 34 Must hold a valid Passport and be willing to travel up to 5% internationally for training and visiting other company locations, predominately the United States of America and Japan. Schedule: 34 Full-time 100% in-person position. 34 Typical work hours are Monday to Friday. Attendance at meetings and trainings on off shifts may also be required periodically with flexibility to adjust schedule to meet regular working hours as needed. Working Environment This position is based in a temporary structure on the site during the construction phase, with transition into new facility in 2027. The final work environment will be at a 24/7 manufacturing operation. This position is in support of manufacturing and requires working in a production environment around chemicals. The manufacturing facility will be a state of the art in terms of automation and being temperature and humidity controlled. This will be a clean and comfortable environment due to the nature of the products being produced. Location Information Port Colborne, Ontario is a charming harbour town situated in the Niagara Region on the coast of Lake Erie. It offers a safe, small-town lifestyle with access to beach waterfront, affordable housing, easy commuting and one of the world's largest canal locks, Lock 8 of the Welland Canal.
