The Director of Human Resources leads the full HR function at The Ranch - employment, compensation and benefits, training, employee and labor relations, organizational development, and payroll oversight - while serving as a steward of workplace culture and a trusted resource for employees at every level. This role partners closely with the General Manager to maximize employee engagement and service excellence, and serves as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, leading a team of three HR professionals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the Human Resources Department, including annual objectives, departmental strategy, and management of a team of three.
- Oversee staff housing both on-site and off-site in a consistent and fair manner in line with our culture ensuring a positive experience for our employees.
- Champion and help shape a workplace culture grounded in trust, respect, and professionalism - modeling those standards personally and holding others accountable to them.
- Establish, maintain, and ensure consistent adherence to all personnel policies and procedures across the property.
- Direct recruitment and hiring strategy for all exempt and non-exempt roles, including seasonal and remote-destination recruiting; personally lead recruitment for executive-level positions.
- Own compensation and benefits administration - conduct market wage/salary/benefit surveys, recommend enhancements, and administer employment, wage, 401(k), and bonus programs.
- Design and oversee training and development programs, including required anti-harassment and anti-discrimination training, management/supervisory development, and brand-standard training goals.
- Direct performance management across all departments, including administration of performance appraisals and the disciplinary process.
- Maintain accurate, compliant HR records and systems, and monitor the property's compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment law.
- Oversee and investigate employee relations and labor matters, ensuring a fair, consistent, and legally sound process.
- Participate in the budget process for staffing, productivity, and benefits/labor costs; monitor turnover and recommend improvements.
- Oversee payroll processes to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and risk mitigation.
- Administer associate benefit programs, including enrollment and vendor coordination.
- Serve as an active member of the Senior Leadership Team, partnering with property leadership on organizational goals.
- Maintain independence and confidentiality in all employee relations matters, avoiding any actual or perceived conflict of interest in the handling of complaints or investigations.
- Disclose promptly any personal, financial, or relational conflict of interest that could compromise objectivity in an HR matter, andrecuse as appropriate.
- Ensure all employees have a clear, confidential path to raise workplace concerns, and that all complaints are handled without retaliation, consistent with company policy and applicable law.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- 5+ years of experience in a senior Human Resources role required.
- Bachelor's degree or above in Human Resources or related field; PHR/SPHR or SHRM certification strongly preferred.
- Prior HR management experience in the hospitality industry strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of recruitment strategy within a seasonal, remote-destination environment preferred.
- Experience within Forbes Five Star and/or Leading Hotels of the World standards and culture preferred.
- Experience in seasonal hospitality or national park environments preferred.

- Experience with Workers' Compensation issues and development of modified work programs.

- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
