DescriptionThe Human Resources (HR) Coordinator provides administrative and operational support across key HR functions, including talent acquisition, hiring support, employee benefits, and labor relations. This role is responsible for ensuring the smooth execution of HR processes, maintaining accurate records, and assisting employees with HR-related inquiries. The HR Coordinator works closely with HR leadership, employees, and external partners to support the organization's HR initiatives while ensuring compliance with policies and regulations.
Examples of Duties - Assists with the recruitment and onboarding process by posting job openings, scheduling interviews, coordinating pre-employment screenings, and ensuring all new hire paperwork is completed accurately.
- Supports hiring managers by maintaining applicant tracking systems and communicating with candidates throughout the hiring process.
- Helps administer employee benefits by assisting with enrollment, answering basic employee inquiries, and coordinating benefit-related communications. They ensure accurate record-keeping of employee benefits and assist in compliance with leave policies, including FMLA and ADA.
- Provides support in labor relations and performance management by maintaining personnel files, tracking performance evaluations, and assisting with employee relations documentation.
- Help coordinate training sessions, policy updates, and compliance reporting while ensuring confidentiality and accuracy in all HR matters.
Typical QualificationsEducation and Experience:Any combination of equivalent education and experience that could likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
- 1 - 2 years of administrative or HR-related experience, preferably in a recruitment setting.
- Familiarity with federal and state regulations related to employee benefits and leave, such as FMLA, ADA, COBRA, and ACA.
- Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Public sector experience
- Professional certifications such as PHR, SHRM-CP, or related credentials
- Experience in benefits, leaves, labor relations, performance management, training, or talent acquisition

- Sacramento Public Library's policies and procedures;
- HR practices and principles and the ability to accurately interpret them to staff;
- Thorough Knowledge of common productivity software including word processing, spreadsheet and file maintenance programs as well as online search and database tools and relevant HRIS systems;
