Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the HR Manager, the HR Business Partnerplays a key role in supporting leaders and employees across Tahltan NationDevelopment Corporation (TNDC) by aligning people strategies with operationalpriorities while honouring Tahltan culture and values. Guided by the principle"Build Trust, Build Futures," this role helps balance business imperatives witha people-centered approach grounded in Indigenous ways of knowing, respect fortradition, and contemporary HR practices.

As TNDC continues to grow as a leadingIndigenous-owned business operating in the resource-rich Golden Triangle ofnorthwest British Columbia, the HR Business Partner will support thedevelopment of a strong, inclusive workforce that creates meaningful opportunitiesfor Tahltan citizens and employees across the organization.

Working closely with leaders, the HR Business Partnerwill help foster a workplace culture built on trust, respect, andaccountability-integrating Western HR practices with Tahltan values to supportboth organizational success and community prosperity. Responsibilities:
• Provide day-to-day HR guidance and coaching tomanagers and employees on HR policies, procedures, employee relations, andworkplace best practices.
• Partnerwith operational leaders to align people strategies with business priorities,supporting workforce effectiveness and organizational growth.
• Partnerwith leaders to foster a workplace culture grounded in trust, respect,accountability, and inclusion, supporting TNDC's commitment to Build Trust,Build Futures.
• Supportrecruitment and workforce planning activities including drafting and updatingjob descriptions, preparing job postings, screening resumes, coordinating andfacilitating interviews, and conducting reference checks.
• Contributeto workforce planning initiatives by working with leaders to identify currentand future staffing needs, supporting sustainable growth and employmentopportunities.
• Coordinateand support the onboarding process by preparing offer letters, managing hiringdocumentation, facilitating new hire orientations, and ensuring a positiveemployee onboarding experience.
• Assistin the implementation and continuous improvement of HR programs, policies, andinitiatives that align with TNDC's strategic goals and support organizationalgrowth.
• Supportleadership development by coaching managers on performance management, employeeengagement, and effective team leadership practices.
• Supportemployee relations matters by providing guidance, facilitating resolution ofworkplace concerns, and promoting respectful workplace practices.
• Promoteinclusive employment practices and support initiatives that create meaningfulemployment and development opportunities for Tahltan citizens and localcommunities.
• Participatein the administration of employee benefits programs and support employees withbenefits-related inquiries.
• EnsureHR practices remain compliant with applicable provincial and federal employmentlegislation, and assist in updating policies and procedures as needed.
• Contributeto the development and delivery of HR communications and initiatives thatsupport employee engagement and organizational culture.
• SupportHR reporting, documentation, and record-keeping to ensure accurate andeffective HR operations.
• Performother related duties and responsibilities as required to support the HR teamand organizational objectives.

Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in Human Resources, ideally in a generalist or HR Business Partner capacity supporting operational teams.
  • Working knowledge of provincial and federal employment legislation, HR policies, and best practices.
  • Experience supporting recruitment, employee relations, performance management, and HR program implementation.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and work collaboratively with leaders and employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong communication, coaching, and conflict resolution skills with the ability to provide sound HR guidance in a professional and respectful manner.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and confidentiality.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HR information systems.
  • Knowledge of, or experience working with Indigenous communities, organizations, or cultural values is considered an asset.
  • An understanding of the social, cultural, and economic priorities of the Tahltan Nation is considered an asset.
  • A CPHR designation, or progress toward obtaining one, is considered an asset.


Working Conditions
  • Ability to pass a mandatory pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.

  • Able to travel - up to 50%
