Human Resources Director

We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Director to lead our HR function for a multi area nonprofit organization. This position partners closely with executive leadership to oversee employee relations, recruitment, compliance, training, performance management, compensation and benefits, and organizational policies.

About the Role

The Human Resources Director leads the day-to-day operations and long-term strategy of the Human Resources Department. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, this leader ensures HR practices, policies, and programs support organizational goals while maintaining compliance with applicable federal, state, and local requirements.

Reporting Line

This position reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Master Degree preferred.
• Experience working for a nonprofit organization is beneficial.
• Experience in a leadership position in Human Resources preferred, including experience supporting or leading key HR functions.
• Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills required.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related business applications.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule within established business hours as needed.
• Ability to meet all employment eligibility and organizational hiring requirements.

HR Leadership and Operations
• Lead the development, implementation, review, and continuous improvement of human resources policies and procedures.
• Provide consistent guidance on the interpretation and application of HR policies, practices, and standards.
• Prepare and coordinate HR-related documentation, reporting, and analysis for organizational leadership.
• Partner with the CEO on employee relations matters, investigations, grievances, and other employment-related issues.
• Direct recruitment efforts in alignment with organizational hiring requirements and workforce needs.
• Develop and oversee onboarding, orientation, and training programs for new, current, and supervisory staff.
• Oversee employee compensation, benefits, recruitment, retention, discipline, and employee relations processes.
• Manage leave administration and employment-related programs, including disability, FMLA, flexible spending, unemployment, and workers' compensation.
• Develop performance standards, maintain position descriptions, and support performance review processes.
• Maintain current knowledge of human resources best practices and employment law.
• Perform other related duties as needed to support the organization.

Leadership and Team Supervision
• Provide direct leadership and supervision to Human Resources Department staff.
• Support the selection, hiring, onboarding, and development of HR team members.
• Facilitate training sessions in a professional and timely manner.
• Ensure team members complete required orientation and training activities on schedule.
• Conduct ongoing supervision, coaching, and performance management, including disciplinary action when appropriate.
• Ensure employee performance reviews are completed accurately, fairly, and in accordance with organizational standards.
