Human Resource Consultant 3 (HRC3) - Position # C632

Employee and Organizational Support Division - Training and Development Unit

Monroe, WA
*This position is eligible to telework.
The Employee and Organizational Support Division has a permanent, full-time Human Resource Consultant 3 (HRC3) opening available. This position, C632, is within the Training and Development Unit, which is located at the Monroe Correctional Complex in Monroe, WA.

The work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. Work hours are determined by unit needs and are at the discretion of the unit supervisor. If you are currently working an alternate work schedule, please be aware that this position may not be able to honor that schedule. For questions, please contact the Human Resource Office.

Qualifications
In accordance with WFSE Section 2 Supplemental DOC Article 4.7 of the Washington Federation of State Employees (WFSE) 2025-2027 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), this job opening is available to internal transfer candidates ONLY.

Employees who meet all of the following criteria may apply:
  • You are requesting a transfer under Section 2 Supplemental DOC Article 4.7 of the WFSE CBA.
  • You are a permanent DOC employee.
  • You currently hold permanent status in the job class being recruited for in this job posting.
  • You are currently in a position represented by WFSE.

Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to present and facilitate training in front of large audiences.
  • Two years' experience involving the teaching/training of adults. (Not considered as full-time experience.)
  • Minimum of two years' experience working in a corrections-related field including working with incarcerated individuals / or those under agency jurisdiction.
  • Ability to instruct or to gain the skills and experience to instruct all TDU designated training for all DOC staff.
  • Ability to attain and maintain required certifications within one year of appointment.
  • Ability to respond to training needs statewide with minimal notice.
  • Accept high level of personal and professional responsibility and accountability.
  • Consistently demonstrate reliability in attendance and punctuality as well as flexibility in work schedule.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in an operational unit that values professionalism, diversity, collaboration, integrity and continuous quality improvement to instructional quality and customer service to students and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate competence to execute expert level organizational and functional skills.
  • Possess skills and experience to garner respect from peers and stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work effectively within a team-oriented working environments that includes interaction with incarcerated individuals or those under agency jurisdiction.
  • Ability to work effectively with basic computer programs in addition to immerging technologies that improve training delivery.
  • Ability to be adaptable to change; contribute in productive and innovative ways to meet agency training needs.
  • Serve as a professional representative of DOC to the public.
  • Dress appropriately for the position.
Special Requirements/Conditions of Employment:
  • Certified Defensive Tactics instructor, to include Tasers (within 12 months of appointment).
