Full Job Description

To support this mission, Syngenta's Operations & Trialing Team is seeking an HSE Lead in Malta, IL. This role will lead the site's health, safety, and environmental strategy; help build a proactive safety culture; and partner closely with operations, research, production, facilities, and site leadership. You will translate regulatory and company requirements into clear, workable processes that support safe and reliable operations. Accountabilities: - Lead the site HSE strategy, management system, compliance activities, and continuous improvement roadmap. - Serve as a trusted advisor to site leaders, employees, contractors, and external regulatory stakeholders. - Strengthen site safety culture through safety walks, communication, training, recognition, and employee engagement. - Lead risk assessments, inspections, audits, incident and near-miss investigations, and corrective-action follow-through. - Coordinate emergency preparedness, drills, environmental compliance, and contractor safety activities. - Use HSE data and KPIs to identify priorities, communicate trends, and drive measurable improvement. - Manage the site HSE budget and contribute to improvement and capital plans. - This position comprises regular work across office, operational, field, greenhouse, and production settings, with occasional travel and non-standard-hours support during critical periods. Qualifications PLEASE NOTE: Candidates must reside in and be permanently authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship. This comprises, but is not limited to, OPT, CPT, and H-1B visa holders. Required Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field. - 3+ years of HSE auditing, management, or operational safety experience, ideally in industrial, agricultural, seed, research, or field-based operations. - Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and DOT requirements and the ability to interpret regulatory obligations for site operations. - Experience conducting audits, risk assessments, inspections, and root-cause investigations. - Strong written and verbal communication, data analysis, and reporting skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office and SAP or comparable systems. - Strong communication, stakeholder-influencing, project-management, and data-analysis skills. Desired Qualifications: - Agriculture or machinery/manufacturing industry experience. Additional Information Salary for this position ranges between $82,400 - $123,600 annually.
