HSE Advisor
The HSE Advisor is responsible for supporting the implementation and monitoring of all safety programs and initiatives on active mining projects. This position plays a key role in the day-to-day safety of personnel and operations, with an emphasis on safety preparedness, hazard identification, incident prevention, mine rescue, and worker training.
FIFO - 2/2 rotation
ResponsibilitiesField Safety Support
- Provide visible, on-the-ground safety presence in surface areas of the site.
- Conduct safety observations, inspections, and audits to ensure compliance with site safety protocols and regulatory standards.
- Support supervisors and field crews in identifying and mitigating risks during daily operations.
Worker Orientation & Training
- Deliver and track site-specific safety orientations for all personnel and contractors.
- Support the development and facilitation of toolbox talks, safety meetings, and ongoing worker training sessions.
- Monitor competency records and assist with training documentation and verification.
Incident & Hazard Management
- Support incident investigations and participate in root cause analysis using ICAM or equivalent methods.
- Record, track, and follow up on hazard reports and corrective actions to ensure timely closeout.
Safety Systems & Reporting
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date safety documentation including inspections, permits, and training records.
- Support preparation of daily and weekly safety reports for internal and client distribution.
- Assist with digital safety system inputs (e.g., SiteDocs, Intelex, or company-specific platforms).
Regulatory Compliance
- Support site compliance with occupational health & safety regulations.
- Liaise with regulatory inspectors when required
Package Details
Qualifications/Experience/Education Requirements
- 3-10 years of relevant health & safety experience in the mining or heavy construction industry.
- Occupational Health & Safety diploma, certificate, or related field of study preferred.
- Valid Mine Rescue certification or willingness to obtain and maintain mine rescue training.
- ICAM or equivalent incident investigation training is an asset.
- Confident communicator with the ability to influence and engage at all levels.
- Familiarity with digital H&S systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
