The HRIS Functional Analyst operates within a structured delivery framework, leading Smithfield’s Workday workstreams through defined processes for requirements gathering, roadmap planning, development, testing, and deployment. This role facilitates regular workstream meetings with COEs, business partners, and AMS support to align priorities, clarify requirements, and drive execution. As the subject matter expert for assigned modules, the analyst is responsible for system configuration, data updates, troubleshooting issues, and end-to-end delivery, ensuring assigned work—whether completed directly or through AMS Support—is executed accurately, on time, and with high quality. This role requires excellent interpersonal skills including a high level of verbal and written communication skills, working well with others in a collaborative manner, influence and persuasion, and relationship building.

The HRIS Functional Analyst will serve as Tier 3 support for Smithfield’s end users and heavily partner with our HR Service Center, HR Business Partners, Centers of Excellence (COE), and various Cross-Functional Teams.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Workday Ownership & Expertise -Serve as the go-to expert for Workday modules that power the employee lifecycle—such as Recruiting, Core HCM, Compensation, Talent, Performance, Payroll, Learning, Absence, or Retirement. Own and maintain system configurations, ensuring Workday runs seamlessly and efficiently. Develop and refine standards, procedures, and documentation that promote consistency and operational excellence. Collaboration & Business Partnership. Partner closely with HR Centers of Excellence (COEs) and HR Shared Services to design and optimize processes that drive business value. Translate business needs into innovative Workday solutions that enhance the employee experience.

  • Issue Resolution & Continuous Improvement -Act as a problem-solver, triaging and resolving cases through Smithfield’s case management tools. Investigate, analyze, test, and resolve system issues, bugs, and inquiries with precision and urgency. Play a key role in testing fixes and enhancements in Workday.

  • Key HR Program Support -Help power critical annual HR processes such as: performance reviews, merit and bonus cycles and goal setting. Ensure systems are optimized to deliver a smooth and impactful experience during these high-visibility events.

  • Product Ownership & Roadmap Management -Maintain and evolve a clear product roadmap and backlog for supported modules, in partnership with the business. Continuously identify opportunities to enhance functionality and deliver greater value to the business.

  • Leadership & Project Contribution -Lead and manage the work of AMS support resources aligned to your modules. Contribute to special projects and strategic initiatives, expanding your impact across the organization.

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Business, Human Resources, Information Management or related field and 2+ years of relevant technology-based experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

  • Workday experience, required.

  • Strong analytical/diagnostic skills with aptitude and passion for process improvement.

  • Demonstrated ability to drive HR processes and to deliver high quality services.

  • Functional understanding of HRIS design, structure, and processes.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, organizational and multi-tasking skills.

  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.

  • Excellent Excel skills.

  • Ability to project manage multiple items at one time.

The expected pay range for this position is $70,000 - $97,500 annually.

Smithfield Foods provides pay ranges that reflect its good faith estimate of thesalary or hourly wagethe company reasonably expects to pay for a positionat the time of hire. Individual compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, location of the position, the candidates qualifications and experience, internal equity, external market pay for comparable positions and budget considerations. At Smithfield Foods, base pay represents only one aspect of the comprehensive total rewards package.
