Description and Requirements

About the Position

A Senior Learning Experience Designer (SLXD) serves as a senior individual contributor and recognized learning-design expert, independently leading design and production for complex, high-impact, or ambiguous work. The SLXD combines advanced learning-design judgment with demonstrated AI-enabled and agentic production capability. On larger, more complex engagements, the SLXD collaborates with a Learning Solutions Consultant and project team to translate diagnosed needs and agreed solution direction into effective learning experiences. The Consultant retains overall project and client accountability, while the SLXD leads the learning-design workstream and exercises advanced instructional judgment. When no Consultant is assigned, the SLXD may directly own appropriately scoped complex projects. The role has no direct reports or formal people-management responsibility.

What You'll Do

1. Lead learning-design workstreams for complex, high-impact, or ambiguous initiatives, collaborating with Learning Solutions Consultants, subject matter experts, stakeholders, and project team members to translate diagnosed needs and agreed solution direction into effective learning experiences.

2. Exercise advanced instructional judgment and make complex learning-design decisions. Advise the project team on design, feasibility, quality, delivery, and learner-experience tradeoffs, escalating decisions that materially affect the integrated solution or client commitments.

3. Design, develop, and maintain facilitator guides, resource guides, job aids, storyboards, e-learning modules, assessments, practice activities, multimedia assets, and related learning materials.

4. Use AI-enabled and agentic production workflows to accelerate drafting, content transformation, asset development, version comparison, and preliminary quality checking. Establish reliable human review practices for AI-assisted work.

5. Build and deliver final production files in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Articulate, Sana or successor learning platforms, and other approved production environments.

6. Resolve difficult production, workflow, prioritization, and recovery challenges while maintaining source fidelity and readiness.

7. Lead complex quality reviews for accuracy, instructional soundness, accessibility, usability, visual quality, technical readiness, and compliance.

8. Independently own appropriately scoped complex projects when no Consultant is assigned, as well as complex or large-scale content maintenance and updates.

9. Establish, refine, and scale learning-design, production, AI-workflow, template, and quality practices that improve capability, speed, consistency, reliability, and reduction of rework across the team.

10. Serve as a sounding board and mentor for Learning Experience Designers through peer consultation, feedback, demonstration, and shared problem solving. This role has no direct supervisory responsibility.

11. Contribute to assessment, pilot, and evaluation activities that support credible evidence that learning contributes to performance measures.

12. Perform other duties as required or apparent.

NOTE: The Primary Accountabilities above are intended to describe the general content and requirements of the position and are not intended to be an exhaustive statement of duties. Incumbents may perform all or most of the Primary Accountabilities listed above. Specific goals or responsibilities will be documented in incumbents' performance objectives as outlined by the incumbents' immediate manager.
