Job Duties and Responsibilities

The HR Operations Supervisor - Leave of Absence shapes an exceptional employee experience by managing in-house leave programs and accommodations. This role combines deep, hands-on expertise with a commitment to compliance, fostering a culture of care and support during pivotal moments in employees' lives. The Leaves team provides support and guidance to employees regarding FMLA, ADA, leave of absence, return to work, accommodations, and critical employee support issues. The supervisor will ensure accurate tracking and timely processing to mitigate risk, and will include appropriate partners, such as legal, managers, workers compensation, third party vendors, etc.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead in-house administration of leave programs (FMLA, ADA, Workers' Comp) with hands-on expertise, ensuring compassionate support during important life events
  • Partner cross-functionally to harmonize HR processes, maintaining detailed compliance with all relevant laws
  • Manage, coach, and develop a team of 7-9 Case Managers to deliver outstanding service to employees
  • Guide interactions around benefits, accommodations, and retirement with empathy and professionalism
  • Mentor Leaves Case Managers in facilitating interactive discussions and assists with implementing creative and compliant return to work strategies
  • Conduct regular one-on-ones, quality reviews, and performance evaluations to support employee growth
  • Act as an expert resource, guiding Case Managers through complex LOA and accommodation cases
  • Lead team meetings and harmonize processes for alignment and clarity
  • Use data and process mapping to identify efficiency opportunities and enhance the employee journey
  • Proactively identifies areas of concern and high risk with individual cases and involves legal when appropriate

Skills, Experience and Requirements

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3-5+ years of progressively responsible Human Resources experience
  • 3+ years of experience providing HR support for large organizations (approximately 5000+ employees)
  • 2+ years of experience managing people


Skills and Qualifications:
  • Experience across multiple HR disciplines preferred (i.e. Compensation, Talent Acquisition, Investigations, Leave of Absence, HR Operations, Compliance, Generalist work, etc.)
  • Experience supporting multiple employee types and multiple lines of business (i.e operations, entry-level, professional, technology, etc.)
  • Experience working in an entrepreneurial culture as well as a larger, established company desired
  • Proven track record of building business acumen and applying business knowledge to problem solving and making recommendations to leadership
  • Ability to build strong relationships with employees, people managers and teams in order understand team dynamics, become a trusted partner, and use influence with stakeholders
  • Experience in coaching and advising employees at multiple levels from front-line hourly employees to executives
  • Adept at handling multiple competing priorities and duties in a fast-paced, results-driven, rapidly changing environment - with minimal daily oversight
  • Ability to identify trends in data and/or observations, and is comfortable at informing and partnering with appropriate stakeholders to make recommendations based on trends
  • A strong commitment to maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information with the utmost care
  • Proficiency with the Google Suite, including but not limited to, Google Sheets and Google Docs

Salary Ranges

Compensation: $72,350.00/Year - $103,400.00/Year

The base pay range shown is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, and competencies; compensation is based on the role's location and is subject to change based on work location.
