Geiger's Recruiting and Workforce Specialist is responsible for attracting, hiring, and supporting retention of skilled talent for Geiger's ready-mix operations. The person in this role will spend much of their time connecting with and assessing candidates, supporting hiring managers, building partnerships, and helping tell Geiger's story as a local employer offering steady, meaningful work. The Recruiting and Workforce Specialist partners with leaders and other team members to strengthen Geiger's employer brand and foster a culture where team members feel valued and supported. Success in this role requires excellent listening and communication, persistence, optimism, organization, and the ability to adapt and keep moving even when recruiting is challenging.
Primary Responsibilities- Source, screen, and hire candidates for CDL drivers, plant/yard staff, mechanics, and administrative roles.
- Manage full-cycle recruiting: job postings, interviews, pre-employment checks, and offers.
- Partner with hiring managers to forecast workforce needs, clarify critical skills, and develop proactive recruiting strategies.
- Build partnerships with trade and high schools, workforce programs, veterans' programs, and other community organizations to strengthen the talent pipeline.
- Promote career pathways within the company to attract new talent and support internal mobility.
- Track and analyze recruiting activity, candidate sources, hiring outcomes, labor market information, and employee feedback to identify patterns and recommend practical, data-informed improvements.
- Serve as a company ambassador and identify and coordinate others to assist as needed.
- Partner with internal training resources and external partners to develop and execute apprenticeship and internship programs tailored to company needs.
- Collaborate with others to create compelling job ads, marketing campaigns, and promotional materials to support recruitment efforts.
Qualifications- Associate or bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Human Resources, Business, Marketing, or construction-related field.
- 3-5+ years of recruiting, HR, or workforce development experience (construction or ready-mix industry preferred).
- Proven interpersonal skills with ability to engage candidates and employees at all levels.
- Strong data-informed judgment; able to distinguish patterns from anecdotes and make practical recommendations based on reliable information.
- Proficient user of HRIS/ATS systems, Microsoft Office, and AI tools with appropriate safety considerations.
- Knowledge of DOT/CDL regulations and safety compliance preferred.
- Willingness to travel locally for recruiting and outreach events.

Salary $75000+ depending on experience.
