TheCollege of Letters & Scienceseeks an HR Managerto support theL&S Administrative Regional Team (ART)2.As the HR Manager, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by leading a dedicated team that supports the HR needs of our diverse community of students, faculty, and staff.ReportingtotheL&SHRDirector,youwillleadateamofHR professionals responsible for delivering day-to-day HR, payroll, and benefits services to assigned units withinART 2.

  • Team Management: Provide HRexpertiseand oversee workload management to ensuretheteameffectivelymeetstheneedsofassignedunitsandemployees.

Followingan initialonboarding period, this position will have remote work flexibility up to2days per week and will work onsite a minimum of3days per week.

Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Identifies, designs, implements, and monitors Human Resources and staff training programs consistent with strategic objectives and initiatives
  • Identifies, proposes, implements, and interprets employment policies and practices for stakeholders, and provides recommendations for changes
  • Serves as subject matter expert to support unit managers' alignment of business needs and human resources strategy
  • Directs and manages unit operational functions and/or staff
  • Monitors programs and practices to ensure compliance with human resources laws, regulations, and institutional policies

The College of Letters and Science (L&S) is the heart of UW-Madison and home to a tremendous breadth and depth of departments and degree-granting programs in the humanities; natural, physical, and mathematical sciences; and social sciences.

Compensation:
The expected salary range for this position is $80,000 up to $106,000 for highly experienced candidates. Actual pay within this range will depend on experience and qualifications.

Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum 3 years relevant experience in Human Resources, payroll, or related role


  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to maintain effective working relationships with managers, staff, and campus partners


  • Demonstrated sound judgment and discretion in applying and interpreting HR policies and procedures


  • Experience with improving processes, navigating change, and/or applying systems thinking to work


  • Experience utilizing a Human Resource Information System (e.g. Workday, Peoplesoft, etc.)


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Direct supervisory experience or equivalent experience leading/managing a team


  • Human resources and/or payroll experience in a higher education or similar setting

Bachelor's degreepreferred
