Full Job Description
Job Title: HR Generalist III
Location: Gaithersburg, MD (Hybrid - 2 days onsite per week)
Status: Full-time, Exempt
Reports To: Director, Human Resources
Salary Range: $80,000 - $90,000 / annually

Key Responsibilities
  • Benefits & Leave Administration: Manage benefit plan enrollment, employee training, and monthly invoice reconciliation with the Finance team. Serve as the main contact for FMLA, Short-Term Disability (STD), Long-Term Disability (LTD), and Workers' Compensation tracking.
  • Employee Relations & Performance: Partner with Program and Project Managers to address performance needs, resolve employee grievances, conduct investigations, and support the annual performance review process.
  • Onboarding & Separation: Lead New Hire Orientation, coordinate with Project Managers, manage exit documentation, and conduct exit interviews.
  • Compliance & Policy: Ensure company guidelines and employee handbooks align with federal, state, and local employment laws. Assist with periodic HR files and HRIS audits.
  • HRIS & Systems: Utilize HRIS software to troubleshoot issues, guide employees, and build out system functionality.
  • Engagement: Plan and execute organization-wide meetings, benefit open enrollments, employee recognition, and culture-building events.

Requirements
  • Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management (or related field) with 2+ years of HR experience, OR 5+ years of progressive HR experience (with at least 2 years as an HR Generalist).
  • Compliance Knowledge: Proven familiarity with compliance requirements including FLSA, NLRA, EEO, VETS, and Minimum Wage laws.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HR technology. Experience with Paylocity is highly preferred.
  • Industry Preferred Experience: Experience in Government Contracting, Service Contract Act (SCA) regulations, and supporting a remote workforce is a plus.
  • Certifications: aPHR, PHR, or SHRM-CP credentials preferred.
  • Core Competencies: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, strong project management abilities, and the capacity to handle sensitive situations with strict confidentiality and diplomacy.

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
