This role is responsible for independently managing a broad range of HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, performance management, and compliance. The ideal candidate will be proactive, solutions-oriented, and passionate about supporting employees and business leaders. This position will report to our Pleasanton office with a hybrid schedule after successful onboarding and training.
Responsibilities:- Serve as a resource to employees and managers regarding HR policies, procedures, programs, and workplace matters.
- Provide guidance and support on routine to moderately complex employee relations matters, escalating sensitive or high-risk issues as appropriate.
- Partner with managers on performance management, coaching, employee development, corrective action, and performance improvement processes.
- Coordinate employee lifecycle activities, including onboarding, employee changes, leaves of absence, and offboarding.
- Support annual HR programs and processes, including performance reviews, compensation and rewards cycles, employee engagement initiatives, and required training.
- Maintain accurate employee records and HRIS data, process employee changes, and ensure documentation complies with company standards and applicable requirements.
- Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and support HR audits, reporting, and policy updates.
- Prepare and analyze HR reports and workforce data to identify trends and support HR and business decision-making.
- Partner with HR team members and internal stakeholders to respond to employee inquiries and ensure the consistent delivery of HR programs and services.
- Prepare, review, and maintain HR documentation, including job descriptions, policies, procedures, and employee communications.
- Identify and recommend improvements to HR processes, programs, and the overall employee experience.
- Support special projects and other HR initiatives as needed.
Requirements- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- 3-5 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in an HR Generalist or comparable HR role.
- Working knowledge of HR best practices and applicable federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Experience supporting employee relations, performance management, employee lifecycle processes, and HR program administration.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with employees and managers at all levels.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and HRIS systems.
- Experience in the AEC, consulting, or professional-services industry preferred.
- HR certification, such as PHR or SHRM-CP, is a plus.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Ability to travel to various BKF offices as needed.
Benefits- The typical base salary range for this position is $79,000 - $105,000 per year and may vary depending upon skills, experience, education, and geographical location. This is a salaried position paid bi-weekly.
