Your Next Big Career Move: HR Business Partner. This role is hybrid and located in Grand Rapids, Michigan, supporting additional locations in Clare, Gaylord, Kalamazoo and Niles.

Shift: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The Opportunity (Job Purpose):

The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) is responsible for partnering with field managers and employees across all levels of the organization. You'll drive business and workforce objectives across a regional cluster of dealerships/sites, supporting 400+ employees. Serving as a key operational partner, you'll spend roughly 30% of your time visiting 3-5 local sites every 1-2 weeks, with minimal to no overnight travel. You'll be based at the location nearest your home while providing high-impact consultation in employee relations, talent development, change management, and team engagement.

What You'll Do Day-to-Day (Essential Duties & Responsibilities):
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to regional leaders, aligning workforce strategies with business goals to boost site operational performance, productivity, and profitability.
  • Support hiring managerial roles where needed. Build strong, positive workplace relationships across hourly and management teams to elevate morale, strengthen employee engagement, and drive high retention.
  • Lead complex employee relations strategies, conduct empathetic on-site investigations, and deliver fair, proactive solutions that maintain a supportive culture.
  • Coach managers at all career stages to sharpen their leadership skills, navigate complex personnel situations, and support internal talent growth.
  • Act as a dynamic change agent, implementing organizational shifts and sharing best practices across regional sites to drive operational agility.
  • Partner closely with teams to understand on-the-ground sentiment, anticipate needs, and translate feedback into meaningful workplace improvements.
  • Oversee risk management, employment law compliance, and agency representation with confidence, ensuring fair, ethical, and high-standard operations.
  • Collaborate closely with team members and leadership to continuously cultivate positive experiences for our customers.
  • Perform other dynamic duties and responsibilities as assigned to support business

  • 5+ years of progressive HR Generalist experience spanning employee relations, talent strategy, compensation, and performance development.
  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, or equivalent hands-on experience in dynamic operations environments.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and presentation skills, with a proven ability to connect authentically with everyone from shop-floor team members to executive leadership.
  • A self-starter with exceptional conflict resolution, critical thinking, and investigative skills who thrives in managing multiple priority projects with autonomy.
  • High resilience and comfort navigating fast-paced, multi-site environments while keeping big-picture operational goals in focus.
  • SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP or PHR/SPHR certification preferred, reflecting a commitment to HR excellence and best practices.
