HR Business Partner II (Corporate)

This position is Hybrid working from our Legacy West Support Center located in Plano Texas

About the role

The HR business partner II (HRBPII) position is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management in designated business units. The HRBP II serves as a consultant to management on human resources-related issues. The successful HRBP II will act as an employee champion and change agent. The HRBP II assesses and anticipates HR-related needs. Communicating needs proactively with our HR department and business management, the HRBP II seeks to develop integrated solutions. The HRBP II formulates partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflect the business objectives of the organization. The HRBP II maintains an effective level of business literacy about the business unit's financial position, its midrange plans, its culture and its competition.

Responsibilities
  • Conducts meetings with respective business units.
  • Consults with line management, providing HR guidance when appropriate.
  • Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs and policies.
  • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations.
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the legal department as needed/required.
  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation.
  • Provides guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning and succession planning.
  • Identifies training needs for business units and individual executive coaching needs.

Knowledge, skills & abilities requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and relevant industry experience
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP Certification
  • Minimum of 5 to 8 years' experience as a HR Business Partner.
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee and union relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws.

Working conditions & physical requirements

The work may require some physical exertion such as long periods of standing; walking; recurring bending, crouching, stretching, reaching, or similar activities; recurring lifting of moderately heavy items such as record boxes. The work may require specific, but common, physical characteristics and abilities such as above-average agility and dexterity.

The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, libraries, and residences or commercial vehicles, e.g., use of safe work practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, observance of fire regulations and traffic signals, etc. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.
