Title:Hourly Research Analyst

Department:Civil & Environmental Engineering

Position Type:Staff

Position Summary:We are seeking ahighly motivated and experienced Research Analyst to join our interdisciplinaryteam for an NSF I-Corps-funded project focused on developing andcommercializing a novel PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) destructiontechnique using ultrasound-based technologies. The ideal candidate will possessa strong background in chemistry, chemical engineering, or environmentalscience, and have proven experience in research leadership, computational modelling,and mentorship of graduate and undergraduate students and prior participationin the NSF I-Corps program, including extensive customer discoveryinterviewing.

Essential Functions:-Oversee and guide the scientific development of the project, including reaction mechanism studies, energy optimization, and degradation pathway modelling.
-Collaborate with faculty investigators, graduate students, and I-Corps team members to meet research and commercialization milestones.
-Leverage prior I-Corps interviewing experience to contribute to market analysis, technology validation, and customer discovery strategy.
-Manage timelines, research deliverables, and communication with NSF I-Corps program leadership and industry mentors.

Prerequisite Qualifications:-Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Chemistry, or a closely related field.
-Experience managing and mentoring students or junior researchers in a research or academic setting.
-Familiarity with ultrasound-based technologies or advanced oxidation processes is a plus.
-Excellent communication, project management, and leadership skills.
-At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.

Preferred Qualifications:-Prior experience in NSF I-Corps, entrepreneurship, or technology transfer activities.
-Knowledge of PFAS chemistry, environmental persistence, and degradation challenges.
-Familiarity with commercialization pathways for environmental technologies.
-Strong record of peer-reviewed publications and/or patent applications.

Salary Information:In compliance with the NJ Pay Transparency Law, the hourly rate for this position is $52.00 (USD). NJIT considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses or other items.
