Position Summary

Fann Contracting, Inc. is seeking a highly experienced Hot Asphalt Plants Superintendent to lead our asphalt production operations in throughout Arizona. In this leadership role, you will oversee three (3) mobile asphalt hot plants (Astec & CMI), ensuring maximum efficiency, strict quality control, and compliance with agency specifications. We're looking for a solid candidate that possess deep technical expertise in mix designs and aggregate gradations, specifically for Stone Matrix Asphalt (SMA) and other commercial/residential asphalt types. Computerized hot plant plant operations knowledge is a must.

Location:Prescott, AZ (with statewide travel)

Salary: $90,000 - $100,000 / year + Lucrative Performance-Based Bonus

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Plant Operations: Manage and optimize the safe daily operations, production schedules, and maintenance schedules of three mobile hot mix asphalt plants.

(Astec and CMI)

• Quality & Compliance: Ensure all material production strictly adheres to mix designs, volumetric properties, and aggregate gradations.
• Agency Relations: Act as the primary technical point of contact for agency representatives, inspectors, and testing laboratories.
• Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and mentor plant operators, ground crews, and loaders to maintain a culture of safety and high performance.
• Environmental & Safety Compliance: Ensure full operational compliance with ADEQ air quality regulations familiarity, including EPA Method 9 weekly/monthly visible emissions & opacity readings. Enforce strict adherence to MSHA regulations, OSHA regulations, and company safety policies.

Position Qualification & Requirements

• Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience directly managing asphalt plant operations, with a proven track record of working with the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) and other municipal/county entities.
• Industry Specific bachelor's degree or equivalent: Prefer relevant civil engineering studies or extensive work history equivalent.
• Technical Mastery: Exceptional knowledge of asphalt mix designs, including Stone Matrix Asphalt (SMA), Superpave, and standard Marshall mixes. Must have knowledge of computerized plant operations.
• Gradation Expertise: Complete understanding of aggregate gradations, fracturing, and blending to meet strict agency tolerances.
• Mobility: Ability to manage operations across multiple mobile plant setups and adapt to changing project requirements and locations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Environmental & Compliance: Familiarity with ADEQ Air Quality Permit requirements, Smoke School (EPA Method 9), MCAQD (Maricopa County Air Quality Department) certifications, and other environmental compliance standards.
• Quality Control: Strong background in QC testing procedures, aggregate analysis, and mix adjustments.
• Logistics & Sourcing: Proven ability in sourcing new plant and pit locations throughout Arizona to optimize production and hauling.
