Hospice Clinical Manager | Lead with Compassion. Guide with Purpose. Make Every Moment Matter.

Wellspring Lutheran Services - Frankenmuth | On-Site | $85,000 - $91,500 Salary | Accepting applications until August 24, 2026.

As a Hospice Clinical Manager with Wellspring Lutheran Services, you will play a vital leadership role in creating that experience. You will support a team of compassionate clinicians, oversee the quality of care provided to patients and families, and help ensure that every person entrusted to our care receives the comfort, respect, and dignity they deserve. Your leadership will help clinicians do their best work while creating an environment where patients and families feel supported, valued, and understood.

If you were called to healthcare because you wanted to make a difference in people's lives, this role offers the opportunity to multiply that impact every day through leadership, mentorship, and exceptional patient care.

What Your Impact Will Look Like

In this role, you will provide leadership and oversight for the day-to-day operations of hospice clinical services, ensuring patients receive high-quality, individualized care while supporting the professionals who deliver it. You will work closely with nurses, social workers, physicians, nutritionists, agency partners, and other members of the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care that reflects each patient's unique needs, goals, and preferences.

You will serve as a mentor, coach, and resource for clinical staff, helping them grow professionally while ensuring they have the support needed to provide compassionate care in the field. Through training visits, case conferences, clinical education, and collaborative problem-solving, you will help strengthen both clinical excellence and employee engagement.

A large part of your role will focus on ensuring quality, compliance, and continuous improvement. You will help monitor patient outcomes, patient and family satisfaction, incident reporting, regulatory compliance, and clinical documentation standards to ensure care consistently meets federal and state requirements as well as professional standards of practice.

You will also remain connected to patient care, providing admissions, supporting clinical visits when needed, and helping the team respond to both routine and emergent situations. This connection allows you to maintain a deep understanding of patient needs while leading with compassion and credibility.

The Professional We're Looking For

You are a compassionate healthcare leader who believes that quality hospice care can profoundly impact patients and families during difficult times.

You understand that exceptional hospice care requires both clinical expertise and empathy. You know how to balance operational responsibilities with the human side of healthcare, creating an environment where staff feel supported and patients receive outstanding care.

You are a strong communicator who enjoys collaborating across disciplines, coaching team members, solving problems, and building relationships with physicians, patients, families, and community partners. You remain calm under pressure, can prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment, and are committed to continuous improvement and regulatory excellence.

What You'll Bring
  • Current, valid Michigan licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN), required.
  • 1 year of Hospice experience, preferred.
  • A commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care and supporting interdisciplinary hospice services.
  • Experience leading, mentoring, educating, and supporting clinical staff.
  • Strong understanding of quality standards, regulatory compliance, clinical documentation, and performance improvement processes.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • The ability to uphold the mission, values, and service standards of the organization while treating every patient, family member, and colleague with dignity and respect.

Why Hospice Leadership Matters

Families often remember hospice care for the rest of their lives.

They remember the nurse who answered a late-night call. They remember feeling prepared, supported, and comforted during uncertain moments. They remember the team that treated their loved one with dignity and compassion.

As a Hospice Clinical Manager, your influence extends far beyond a single patient interaction. Through your leadership, coaching, quality oversight, and commitment to excellence, you help create those meaningful experiences for every patient and family served by the organization. You help ensure that comfort is provided, dignity is preserved, and no one walks this journey alone.

Schedule
  • Full-time, 40 hours per week.
  • Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm.
  • Participation in the nurse on-call rotation
    • Weekend rotation approx. every 4-6 weeks
    • 1 evening per week
  • Occasional travel for patient visits, staff support, and field-based clinical oversight.
