What this job involves:As a Horticulturist II on the Amazon Global Real Estate & Facilities (GREF) team, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day horticultural operations of The Spheres or Redmond Greenhouse while maintaining a commitment to JLL's Leadership Behaviors. What your day-to-day will look like:- Perform general horticulture maintenance within The Spheres, other interior planted spaces, exterior landscaping in Seattle, and/or Amazon Support Greenhouse facilities, including watering, planting, propagation, paludarium/aquarium maintenance, weeding, irrigation, pest control, pruning, and plant transport with a motor vehicle between locations
- Take initiative and work without direct oversight on assigned projects, research, and tasks while mentoring other horticulture team staff and fostering their professional development
- Partner with other Horticulturists and Amazon staff on innovative horticulture projects such as terrariums, living walls, exhibit creation, and other biophilic installations that enhance workplace experience
- Inform plant procurement and acquisition initiatives in accordance with Amazon's plant collection policy, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and sustainability principles
- Engage with Amazon employees, partners, and the public through taking the lead on educational discussions, events, and tours focused on plants, biophilia, conservation, and horticulture-related topics
- Collect and provide documentation to track progress and identify improvement opportunities, supporting data-driven decision-making and continuous enhancement
- Identify operational deficits and proactively notify management to correct issues, demonstrating ownership and problem-solving initiative
- Proactively seek out training sessions and professional development opportunities and participate in additional ones as directed by supervisors to advance horticultural expertise
- Drive the implementation of JLL's Leadership Behaviors, best practices, and innovations that elevate service delivery and operational excellence
- Perform all additional duties commensurate to the level of the role.
Required Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Botany, Plant Science, or related field, OR equivalent experience demonstrating strong foundation in horticultural science and practice
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in professional horticulture, greenhouse management, or similar roles with demonstrated success maintaining high-quality plant displays
- Must meet highest attendance and punctuality requirements with reliable schedule adherence
- Ability and willingness to work weekends and holidays based on operational needs
- Comprehensive knowledge of tropical and temperate plants including plant nutrition, water quality management, and climate control systems with ability to interpret diagnostic reports
- Expertise in science-based horticultural practices including pest and disease recognition and integrated pest management (IPM) supporting sustainable plant care
- Exceptional interpersonal skills including professionalism, customer focus, collaboration, inclusivity, teamwork, and commitment to JLL's Leadership Behaviors
- Strong communication skills with ability to interact professionally with employees, visitors, and contractors, demonstrating executive presence and educational capability
- Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and other software applications supporting documentation and communication
- Ability to detect emergency alarms through auditory and visual means and respond appropriately
- Physical capability to work under varying climatic conditions including rain, high heat, and humidity, work at heights over 30 feet, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform manual labor as required
- Willingness to obtain Washington State Pesticide Applicator license and BMU/lift certification upon employment
- Valid driver's license enabling transport of plants and materials between locations
- Greenhouse Location only: Valid (or ability to obtain) forklift operator's license.
Preferred Qualifications:- Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in Horticulture, Botany, or related field demonstrating specialized expertise
- Five (5) or more years of experience developing, leading, and managing innovative horticulture projects and large-scale interior plant installations including living walls, paludariums, and/or aquariums
- Previous experience in mentoring and training horticulture staff, providing coaching and professional development support
- Experience with biophilic design principles and living architecture supporting workplace wellness and environmental connection
- Experience conducting educational tours or public presentations, demonstrating ability to engage diverse audiences with compelling horticultural content
- Professional certifications in pest management (such as Certified Crop Advisor, IPM certification) or specialized horticultural practices
- Background in public education or interpretive programming related to plants and conservation, supporting outreach and engagement initiatives
- Experience with tropical plant collections, rare or endangered species care, or botanical conservation programs
- Knowledge of sustainable horticultural practices including water conservation, organic practices, and environmental stewardship
- Familiarity with plant database management systems or horticultural inventory software
- Experience with aquatic systems maintenance including water chemistry, filtration, and aquatic plant care
- Background working in public gardens, botanical institutions, conservatories, or similar high-profile horticultural environments.

Estimated compensation for this position:79,000.00 - 96,900.00 USD per year
This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
