Responsibilities

  • Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation for functionality

Labcorp is seeking a Histology Team Lead - Renal to join our team at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, MA.

Work Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday, 6am - 2:30pm

Job Responsibilities
  • Assist the supervisor with the day to day operations of the Histology department
  • Assist with the training of new hires and the development of current employees
  • Keep supervisor informed of group progress, problems, employee performance and any significant factors affecting assigned responsibilities
  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to SOPs
  • Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
  • Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
  • Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
  • Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
  • Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
  • Handles point for all kidney biopsy procedures
  • Works with Hematology Chair to update and maintain all SOPs in coordination with Renal Biopsies
  • Communicates procedures and changes to Renal team


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Histology, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
  • 3 years of experience or more as a Histotechnologist

Preferred Qualifications
  • 3 months or more of Immunohistochemistry experience
  • Histology and/or ASCP certifications
  • 6 months or more of supervising or leading a team


Additional Job Standards
  • In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirements
  • Familiarity with routine histology procedures and equipment
  • Comfortability embedding both large and small specimens
  • Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
  • Experience working in a high volume laboratory environment
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems
  • High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
  • Comfortability making decisions in a changing environment
  • Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs


**Pay Range: $37.50 - $48.50 per hour

All job offers will be based on a candidate's skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data.
