Job Description
Join a collaborative transportation team delivering high-impact roadway and highway projects across the Southeast, supporting both FDOT and local agency clients. This role offers the opportunity to contribute across the full project lifecycle-from early design through PS&E-while gaining exposure to complex, visible infrastructure work and expanding your technical and project responsibilities within a supportive team environment.
What You'll Do
Support the design and delivery of roadway and highway projects for FDOT and local agencies, with involvement from preliminary engineering through PS&E
Apply FDOT design standards across roadway geometry, traffic control, signing, and pavement marking to produce compliant, high-quality plans
Develop and review construction plans, specifications, and bid documents for DOT and municipal clients
Utilize tools such as Bentley OpenRoads Designer (ORD) and ConceptStation to develop and refine design solutions
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver designs that are efficient, constructible, and aligned with client expectations
Conduct site visits and field reviews to validate design assumptions and incorporate real-world conditions into project development
Support construction-phase activities, including responding to contractor inquiries, reviewing shop drawings, and addressing field issues
Contribute to technical excellence through design documentation, process improvements, and knowledge sharing across the team
Participate in client coordination and industry engagement efforts to support ongoing work and strengthen relationships
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff while continuing to build your own technical depth and project leadership experience
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering or related discipline. 3 years of related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Preferred Qualifications
Solid knowledge of FDOT roadway, traffic control, signing and pavement marking design practices and procedures.
Solid knowledge of Bentley OpenRoads Designer (ORD) & ConceptStation.
Experience with the development of construction bid documents for FDOT as well as other clients (i.e., counties or municipalities).
