Step into Your New Role

 

As a Highway Engineer, you will be directly involved in the design and execution of a wide range of transportation projects, from small enhancements to large infrastructure developments. Collaborating with a skilled team of engineers, designers, and construction professionals, you will contribute technical expertise and innovative solutions to ensure project success. This hybrid role is available in our Mechanincsburg, PA office, offering significant career growth opportunities for the right individuals.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Project Design and Execution: Perform detailed design work for highway and transportation projects, including intersections, road widenings, interchanges, and smaller enhancements.
  • Technical Development: Prepare engineering documents for project advertisements and construction, ensuring compliance with applicable design criteria and regulatory standards
  • Engineering Analysis: Conduct design calculations, technical analysis, and produce project specifications for transportation infrastructure.
  • Collaboration and Coordination: Work closely with internal teams, clients, and sub-consultants to ensure design alignment and compliance with project requirements.
  • Budgeting and Scheduling: Assist with project budgeting, cost estimates, and schedule tracking to support project efficiency and financial management.
  • Site Assessments: Conduct site visits and inspections to gather data and ensure design accuracy, providing technical support throughout the construction phase.
  • Construction Support: Address design-related questions or issues that arise during project execution, ensuring smooth implementation of engineering plans.
  • Client Interaction: Travel occasionally to project or client sites for meetings, site assessments, and project-related tasks.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (BSCE) from an ABET-accredited program.
  • 6+ years of experience in highway and transportation design.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) preferred.
  • Strong hands-on experience with roadway, intersection, and interchange projects.
  • PennDOT and/or Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC) design experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in design and plan preparation using MicroStation and related software.
  • Knowledge of Federal, State, and local jurisdiction permitting regulations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with team members, clients, and regulatory agencies.
  • Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
