Full Job Description
The Hematology Medical Director, VEXAS leads medical strategy and external engagement for the VEXAS disease area within the Vonjo (pacritinib) Medical Affairs organization. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced medical leader to shape how Sobi supports the VEXAS patient and provider community-building scientific credibility and trust across the hematology, rheumatology, dermatology, and inflammation communities in an emerging and complex disease area. Reporting to the Head of Vonjo Medical Affairs, this individual will serve as the lead medical voice for VEXAS, driving the US medical strategy and partnering closely with Field Medical to engage and educate healthcare providers (HCPs), medical organizations, payers, and patient advocacy groups. The role also serves as the medical lead on the Brand Team and collaborates cross-functionally to advance shared business goals. Major Responsibilities 34; Serve as the lead medical strategist for VEXAS, providing strategic direction for medical strategy, brand-aligned tactics, and external clinician engagement across academic, community, and multidisciplinary care settings34; Partner with the Field Medical Team to develop and strengthen KOL and key institution engagement plans, positioning Sobi as the scientific partner of choice for VEXAS34; Collaborate with Field Medical to identify resource needs and co-develop field materials and tactics specific to VEXAS34; Lead planning and execution of advisory boards and educational activities, including webinars, medical roundtables, symposia, and congress presence34; Generate and share medical insights with internal partners, using them to refine strategy and tactics34; Build strong collaborative relationships across Market Access, Medical Information, Clinical Development, Sales, and Marketing34; Contribute to evidence generation projects, real-world evidence studies, and publications supporting the VEXAS disease area34; Support launch readiness through disease education, articulation of unmet need, and evidence generation planning34; Uphold the collaborative culture of Hematology Medical Affairs-one that respects and appreciates every team member while encouraging one another toward excellence and a shared purpose Qualifications Requirements 34; MD, PhD, or PharmD34; Minimum of 3 years of experience as an Associate or Medical Director34; Ability to travel up to 50%, primarily domestic34; Excellent communication and presentation skills, including the ability to translate complex scientific concepts for varied audiences34; Demonstrated ability to build meaningful, bi-directional relationships with the medical community34; Strong scientific and clinical acumen paired with strategic and analytical thinking34; Proven leadership across core Medical Affairs functions, such as evidence generation, publications, medical education, and strategy development34; A collaborative, cross-functional mindset with the motivation to work effectively across all levels of the organization34; A results-driven approach marked by urgency, solution-orientation, and innovation34; A self-starting, hands-on team player with strong interpersonal skills, comfortable rolling up their sleeves in a fast-paced environment34; An unwavering patient focus Preferences 34; Background in Hematology, Rheumatology, or Inflammation34; Pre-launch and/or launch experience Additional Information Compensation and Total Rewards at Sobi At Sobi, we are dedicated to providing our employees with a comprehensive and industry-competitive total rewards package.
