Summary:

The Heavy Haul Manager, North America will lead the growth and expansion of OIA Global' s Heavy Haul product across North America, driving revenue, capability development, and market presence. This role will build and manage strategic carrier partnerships, develop differentiated heavy haul solutions, and establish Heavy Haul as a core growth pillar within the project logistics product. The Heavy Haul Manager will provide strategic and operational leadership across ground transportation disciplines to ensure the safe, complaint, and efficient execution of complex heavy haul and project shipments. In addition, the role will build and develop high-performing teams of ground project logistics specialists, optimize operational productivity, and deliver exceptional customer outcomes in support of OIA Global' s full suite of services.

Salary Range: From $92,001 to $105,000
The actual pay may vary based on several factors, including professional experience, hiring location, skills and competencies.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Grow our Ground Project Logistics GP in North America through heavy haul solutions and execution.
  • Lead, plan, and execute heavy haul, over-dimensional, overweight, and project cargo ground transportation movements for any customer in any Sales channel.
  • Provide leadership and governance to the project logistics team to ensure safe, compliant, and technically sound execution of heavy haul moves, while delivering on schedule, cost, and customer expectations.
  • Act as the subject matter expert for complex ground transportation solutions, including equipment selection, route feasibility, permitting strategy, and execution planning.
  • Be a subject-matter expert in Ground Freight Project Logistics and Support Sales Team on project logistics solution design for customers.
  • Develop, manage, and continuously improve relationships with specialized heavy haul carriers, engineering firms, survey providers, escort services, and regulatory authorities, ensuring compliance with OIA Global standards, safety protocols, and KPIs.
  • Drive project-specific RFQs and tenders from scope definition through award, including evaluation of technical viability, risk exposure, equipment suitability, carrier capability, and cost.
  • Ensure adherence to best-value carrier selection, balancing commercial considerations with safety, engineering requirements, regulatory risk, and project constraints.
  • Oversee and review route surveys, engineered transport plans, method statements, lift and load securement designs, and permit strategies in coordination with carriers, customers, and engineering stakeholders.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of project logistics SOPs related to heavy haul and OOG transportation, ensuring consistency, compliance, and training across the team.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and training to operations teams on heavy haul regulations, permitting, execution best practices, and risk mitigation.
  • Serve as the primary interface between internal stakeholders, customers, carriers, and external service providers throughout planning and execution phases of project moves.
  • As required, review and approve dispatch plans, schedules, and equipment deployment for multi-leg, time-critical, or high-risk moves, ensuring alignment with approved project plans.
  • Actively monitor execution to ensure permit compliance, route adherence, milestone achievement, and immediate escalation and resolution of deviations or incidents.
  • Manage customer service performance related to project cargo movements; lead issue resolution, claims mitigation, and post-move reviews.
  • Approve and audit project transportation costs, including freight, permits, escorts, engineering, and accessorial charges, ensuring commercial accuracy and contract compliance.
  • Maintain oversight of large-scale transportation spend related to heavy haul and project cargo, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost-control initiatives.
  • Conduct site visits to customer facilities, fabrication yards, ports, and carrier locations to support planning, execution, and relationship development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of OIA Global' s project logistics and specialized transportation strategy.

Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Demonstrated expertise in heavy haul, over-dimensional, overweight, and OOG ground transportation, including engineered moves and project cargo execution.
  • Deep Experience in USA domestic, with cross border between Mexico and USA and USA and Canada a bonus.
  • Strong working knowledge of route surveys, permitting processes, regulatory compliance, and risk management for complex domestic and cross-border moves.
  • Proven ability to evaluate and review engineered transport plans, method statements, equipment configurations, and load securement designs.
  • Experience managing specialized heavy haul carriers and third-party providers, with a strong focus on safety, performance, and compliance.
  • Commercial acumen with the ability to structure and evaluate project RFQs, balancing technical feasibility, risk exposure, and total cost.
  • Strong project management skills, including planning, sequencing, milestone tracking, and stakeholder coordination across multiple workstreams.
  • Ability to operate effectively in high-risk, time-sensitive project environments, managing exceptions and escalation professionally.
  • Clear, confident communicator with the ability to interface with customers, engineers, EPC contractors, senior leadership, and regulatory authorities.
  • Proven leadership capability, including coaching, training, and developing teams operating across multiple locations.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, with experience managing transportation budgets, KPIs, and performance reporting.
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); functional knowledge of TMS/WMS platforms; experience with project cargo or heavy haul systems preferred (e.g., 3G TMS).
  • Willingness and ability to travel to support project planning, site surveys, and execution oversight.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree or 15 years of heavy haul transportation experience, preferably coming from an asset base carrier or trucker broker environment. Freight Forwarding experience is a plus.
  • At least 10 years of supervisory/leadership experience, preferably providing logistics, supply chain, and facility support; working with and presenting to senior leadership, stakeholders, and decision makers.
  • Proven experience in maintaining and reporting key logistics metrics and customer data.
  • Previous experience managing remote projects and teams in multiple locations, simultaneously.
  • Must be willing to travel, as required.
