Position Scope

NACG are seeking an experienced Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic (Off-Road) with Service Truck (Direct Service Provider) to join our remote mining site team in the Acheson area.

This is your opportunity to join one of the safest and largest contracts in the region.

For this role, NACG offers a combined gross rate of up to $135/hour as well as room for growth!

Where You'll Be Working

  • Location: Acheson
  • Schedule: 7 x 7, 12 hour, rotating days and nights (week of days, week off, week of nights, week off)
  • Overtime: Provided after 8 hours in a day or 44 hours in a week.

Responsibilities

What You'll Be Doing
  • Complete repairs/ rebuilds on mining equipment, Cat D8- D11 Dozers, 777 -797 haul trucks, 16- 24 graders. Also, some Hitachi and Komatsu equipment.
  • Work closely with supervision, planning and safety departments.
  • Preventative Maintenance, Equipment rebuilds, component change outs,
  • Check equipment for proper performance and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions.
  • Trouble shooting systems - example: hydraulic, electrical & mechanical of all equipment and determine faults and extent of repair.
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturer specifications.
  • Develop work scopes and parts lists for the equipment needing repairs.
  • Follow schedule, complete crossover reports, and fill out work orders.
  • Teach and evaluate apprentices and mentor Mechanics.
  • Follow NACG codes of practice and Safe Operating Procedures.
  • Predominantly shop work but may include work in the Acheson yard.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • A valid Alberta Journeyperson Equipment Technician (Off Road) Certificate or an Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyman (Journeyperson) Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic/Technician (Off Road).
  • Experience with Cat SIS is an asset.
  • Previous experience on a Safety Sensitive work site an asset

Truck Requirements:
  • Current CVIP and Picker Inspection.
  • Oxygen/acetylene cabinets that meet OH&S requirements.
  • Full complement of tools for repairing Off Road Equipment.
  • $5 million liability insurance commercial + auto.

Summary

If you are chosen to move forward in our hiring process, you will be asked to provide the following:
  1. Provide a valid Class 5 Driver's License and a recent Driver's Abstract
  2. Undergo and successfully pass the following pre-employment testing:
    • Breath Alcohol Test
    • Urine Drug Test
    • Fitness-to-Work Assessment
    • Audiometric Testing
    • Vision Screening
    • Criminal Record Check

Once moved into onboarding, the following processes will occur:
  1. Will receive a call from NACG to set up all required pre-employment testing
  2. An email will be sent with all required New Hire Paperwork to be filled out
  3. After all results and paperwork are received by NACG, candidates will be contacted by us to schedule orientation and confirm your start date and other location (site) specific details.
