Full Job Description
Alberta Health Services (AHS), in partnership with Covenant Health and the University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of Cardiac Sciences, Division of Cardiology, invites applications for two Electrophysiologists based at the University of Alberta Hospital and the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute in Edmonton, Alberta.

The successful candidates will join AHS's Cardiac Sciences program at one of Canada's leading tertiary and quaternary cardiac care centers, providing specialized cardiac services to patients across Edmonton, Northern Alberta, and referral regions spanning British Columbia, Yukon, Nunavut, Northwest Territories, and portions of Saskatchewan.

Through the academic partnership with the University of Alberta, successful candidates will contribute to teaching and scholarly activities within one of Canada's premier medical schools, consistently recognized for excellence in medical education, research, and innovation.

The successful recruit will join a group of 40 cardiologists including 6 other Electrophysiologists at this site. They will have an MD degree, or equivalent. They will be eligible for certification in Cardiology with the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada. As well, they will be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA) and have Specialty training Electrophysiology. Training in Inherited Arrhythmia Disorders or Adult Congenital Heart Disease would be an advantage. Candidates should be committed to education and may have a track record of demonstrated research success. Additional professional training or previous work experience in other academic endeavors including (but not limited to) education, administration, ethics, informatics, or patient quality and safety would be welcomed.

Remuneration will be based on the Fee-for-Service (FFS) schedule. The average gross income in Alberta is $550,000-900,000 CAD

Key accountabilities of the Electrophysiologist will include but will not be limited to: Adult Electrophysiology Laboratory and Consult service, In-Patient Cardiology service, Outpatient and Heart Rhythm Device Clinic, Emergency Triage, and equitable share of Division of Cardiology undergraduate and postgraduate teaching responsibilities.
