Join AIR as a Healthcare Programmer, Medicaid and Pharmacy with our Healthcare Innovations team. Our team works collaboratively to unravel the intertwined challenges of health care quality, costs, and access. Our team of experts-economists, data scientists, statisticians, public health experts, sociologists, nurses, physicians, and psychologists - advance evidence and save lives by leading rigorous research and evaluation; program implementation and monitoring; results-driven technical assistance and training; and leading-edge data science and technology tools.

The Healthcare Programmer - Medicaid and Pharmacy will apply programming skills to manage, analyze, and report on complex datasets, to implement and support research design, documentation, and project coordination, and to ensure high-quality data-driven insights.

Candidates with expertise with Medicaid policy and data, and/or pharmaceutical pricing and related data sources are especially encouraged to apply.

This position has the flexibility to work remotely within the United States (U.S.) or from one of AIR's U.S. office locations. This does not include U.S. territories.
Responsibilities:
  • Extract, recode, merge, and de-duplicate datasets to prepare them for analysis.
  • Conduct outlier analyses, manage missing data, and create derived analysis variables.
  • Perform statistical analyses to support research and reporting needs.
  • Generate customized reports summarizing data analysis results.
  • Produce high-quality, computer-generated data listings, summary tables, and data collection outputs.
  • Provide technical oversight, mentorship, and training to junior SAS programmers.
  • Debug and revise code by identifying and resolving programming errors.
  • Write and maintain comprehensive documentation for code, programs, and technical specifications.
  • Prepare technical reports and contribute to proposal development.
  • Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education, Knowledge, and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Data Science, Public Health, Economics, Epidemiology, or a related quantitative field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working with large-scale healthcare administrative or claims data.
  • Direct experience processing and analyzing Medicare, Medicaid, and/or other commercial claims data.
  • Direct experience with pharmaceutical pricing data, prescription drug encounter data, or other related data sources.
  • Experience using SQL, Python, R and/or other data analysis tools.
  • Knowledge of data analysis and data management techniques.
  • Experience applying SAS in research or analytical settings, particularly in health or social sciences.
  • Knowledge and experience with advanced analytic techniques such as machine learning preferred, but not required.
  • Proposal and report preparation experience preferred, but not required.

Salary offers are made based on internal equity within the institution and external equity with competitive markets. Please note this is the annual salary range for candidates that are based in the United States.

$130,000-$160,000 USD
