Health Systems Manager

Job Summary

The Health Systems Manager is responsible for overseeing the operational and administrative support functions of the Health Systems Department. The Health Systems Manager role focuses on optimizing healthcare delivery, ensuring regulatory compliance, managing resources, and enhancing un'ina (patient) access and experience. The Health Systems Manager is a key role in the Health Systems leadership team and collaborates across all Health Systems Departments to support Dena'ina Wellness Center's Dene' Philosophy of Care.

Essential Functions
  • Performs supervisory duties to include training, performance reviews, and scheduling while promoting a positive work culture
  • Oversee daily operations of by coordinating communication between Health Systems Departments, managing resources efficiently, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving continues improvement initiatives to achieve high-quality un'ina centered care
  • Works collaboratively with the Health Systems Departments to ensure un'ina to improve healthcare access, un'ina (patient) engagement, and overall health outcomes
  • Implement and maintain all Tribal policies and procedures and ensure daily practices are in alignment with Health Insurance Portability Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Indian Health Services (HIS) standards
  • Assists in facilitating un'in education and outreach initiatives to promote wellness and preventative care to include coordinating warm transfers to other Tribal Departments
  • Responsible for oversite of all credentialing and enrollment for clinical staff within the Health Systems Departments
  • Oversees the Purchase Referred Care (PRC) program to include implementing and developing strategies to improve quality of PRC services
  • Ensures that social work services are delivered effectively and in compliance with IHS and the Tribe's guidelines to include ensuring all un'ina receiving care provide acceptable forms of proof for eligibility
  • Manages daily tasks related to electronic health record (EHR) implementation and support, ensuring proper user training throughout the Health Systems Departments, resolving application issues, and acts as a liaison between clinical staff and the Clinical Applications Coordinators (CACs)
  • Ensures compliance with Tribal, federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, Tribal policies and TERO ordinance

Qualifications

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Health Systems Administration or related field or a combination of education and experience in a related field may be substituted for a degree

Experience
  • Three (3) years of experience in healthcare management, IHS preferred
  • One (1) year of experience in Purchase Referred Care

Preferred
  • Knowledge and experience working with cultural diversities

License/Certification
  • Must have a valid Alaska State driver's license and must remain insurable under the Tribe's policy
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required, or obtain within 90 days of hire

This position is a Covered Position subject to all requirements of the Alaska Barrier Crimes Act (ABCA) and to the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act, (ICPA). ABCA and ICPA requirements apply and must be complied with at all times in order to remain in the position.
