Qualifications

  • National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) Certification or equivalent, or working towards it
  • OFA level 2 certification preferred
  • Current First Aid/CPR Level 1 certification
  • 2-5 years of relevant safety role experience, ideally in British Columbia
  • Experience with Emergency First Responders and traffic management preferred.
  • Working knowledge of heavy equipment and construction processes
  • Strong grasp of workplace health and safety laws and regulations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Valid Driver's license

Responsibilities

  • Provide health and safety support to project teams
  • Assist management in safety plan implementation and monitoring
  • Direct contractors and employees on safety standards
  • Facilitate training programs including new hire orientation
  • Lead incident investigations and ensure corrective actions are implemented
  • Guide Joint Health and Safety Committees
  • Collaborate with clients and Ministry of Labour on safety issues
  • Consolidate and review safety reports
  • Conduct inspections and audits as per safety program
  • Implement occupational safety and health programs

As a Health and Safety Coordinator, you will inspect, evaluate, train and provide technical support for work crews to ensure compliance with Health and Safety program and agency regulations.

What you will be doing
  • Provide health and safety direction, support, and leadership to project supervisors, employees, and contractors
  • Support management in implementing, monitoring and improving the Project Safety Plan and Construction Safety Management System
  • Assist project management in directing contractors, visitors, and employees on project safety standards
  • Provide training support for assigned program areas, including new hire orientation
  • Participate in/or provide direction to others conducting incident investigations, including follow up actions to ensure implementation of identified corrective actions
  • Guide Joint Health and Safety Committees on safety related matters
  • Work with client representatives and Ministry of Labour to resolve identified issues and opportunities
  • Consolidate safety reports
  • Conduct project level inspections and audits as required by safety program
  • Monitor, coordinate, and implement occupational safety and health programs
What we are looking for
  • National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) Certification or equivalent certification from a recognized association or board, or working towards obtaining one
  • OFA level 2 certification preferred
  • Current First Aid/CPR certifications, Level 1
  • 2-5 years of relevant experience in a safety role, preferably as a representative of the prime contractor/ constructor. Relevant work experience in the province of British Columbia is required
  • Experience working with Emergency First Responders
  • Experience with traffic management is preferred
  • Working knowledge of heavy equipment and construction terms and processes
  • Strong working knowledge of laws and regulations regarding workplace health and safety
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Valid Drivers' license

Salary MinCAD $75,000.00/Yr. Salary MaxCAD $90,000.00/Yr.
