Under general direction of the Coding Manager and according to established procedures, this position assigns ICD and CPT codes for patients receiving ancillary services and chemotherapy infusion at UCSD Health System. Assigns all applicable APC's for patient accounts and abstracts all coded data into abstracting information system. Responsible for data entry into electronic databases for use in assessing quality of patient care, outcome analysis, and financial management.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- Must have coding knowledge or at least 1 year of experience in acute care setting with CPC or RHIT/RHIA/CCS or exam-eligible to test and credential within 6 months of hire.
- Successful completion of AHIMA or AAPC accredited Health Information Tech/Mgmnt or Coding program.
- Base credential by AHIMA with either RHIA/RHIT or by AAPC with a CPC. AHIMA CCS credential.
- Coding experience with outpatient ancillary, infusion clinic records and claim edits.
- Must maintain credentials by attending regular education sessions.
- Proven skill with computers and computer systems.
PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS- Minimum of 1 year experience Chemotherapy coding experience to include injection and infusion charging.

- Epic experience
SPECIAL CONDITIONS- Must be able to work overtime, weekends and holidays if necessary.
- Must be able to sit for long periods of time and able to utilize computer skills.
- Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $91,120 - $113,316 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $43.64 - $54.27
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
