What you will be doing:
In this role, you will assume day-to-day management of Council activities and oversee project and planning activities in accordance with federal and state requirements, as well as annual amendments and reporting (inclusive of the DD Act 5-Year Plan, current grants, programs, and initiatives). You will supervise up to 6 other professional employees and perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director. This role represents the Council on disability issues, facilitates stakeholder communication and advocacy with state agencies and policymakers through public forums, education, and meetings.

Your work facilitates the Council mission by conducting outreach, providing training and technical assistance, removing barriers, developing coalitions, encouraging citizen participation, and keeping policymakers informed about disability issues.

The working environment you can expect:
The Council office is on the northeast corner of the 12th floor of the Atwood Building; Program staff have individual offices with views of Cook Inlet, the Chugach Mountains, and Town Square. All staff can choose a hybrid telework schedule if they qualify and are expected to travel to Juneau at least once per year for our annual legislative fly-in (usually in February).

Special Notice:
  • This position may travel to rural and urban locations statewide to gather information, conduct public awareness campaigns, make presentations, and carry out training activities 1-3x per year.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in health planning, health sciences, social sciences, behavioral sciences, public health administration, public or business administration, or a closely related field;
AND EITHER
Three years of professional planning experience in health or social services;
OR
Three years of professional experience in the administration, management, or development of a public health, health, or social services program.
