Job Summary
The MGH Institute of Health Professions is now accepting applications for a full-time faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in the Health Administration Program. This role involves participating in CAHME accreditation, teaching, assessment strategies, and curriculum support, alongside general academic advising and active participation in professional, service, and scholarly activities. Candidates must hold a doctoral degree in Health Services Administration, Healthcare Economics, Healthcare Leadership, or a related health discipline from a regionally accredited institution and have 3-5 years of healthcare executive experience. Fellowship in the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE), CAHME and AUPHA affiliation preferred. Workday FIELD: Job Description:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the design, management, teaching, and evaluation of didactic or clinical courses within the designated content area or other content as negotiated; providing general academic advising to students; participating in professional and service activities; and participating in scholarship commensurate with the level of appointment.

Time spent in the areas below are negotiated between the Academic Unit Leader and individual faculty members::

  • Teaching:
    • Teaches within or across programs as appropriate to area of expertise and program needs.
    • Design and deliver instruction using evidence-based pedagogical practices, including development of syllabi, course materials, and assessments aligned with program competencies and accreditation standards
    • Evaluate student achievement of program competencies and learning outcomes appropriate to the program and level of student learning.
    • Participate in the development, evaluation, and revision of the Health Administration Program curriculum plan.
    • Facilitate active learning environments (e.g., case-based, interprofessional, and clinical simulation) that promote critical thinking, clinical reasoning, and application of current research in health professions practice.
    • Assess student performance and provide timely, constructive feedback; mentor students' academic and professional development while upholding inclusive, student-centered teaching practices.
  • Service:
    • Contribute to departmental and institutional governance through active participation on committees, that support program quality and continuous improvement.
    • Provide comprehensive student advising and mentorship fostering student success and professional readiness
    • Engage in professional service to the field through leadership or participation in professional organizations, that advance health professions education and practice.
    • External and internal service contributions expectations are commiserate by rank
    • Participates in the development and implementation of a systematic evaluation plan that encompasses all components of the program.
  • Scholarship:
    • Identifies of an area of scholarship as outlined in the IHP Scholarship Model.
    • Develop and sustain a program of scholarship that advances health professions education, clinical practice, or translational research, including dissemination through peer-reviewed publications, presentations, and other scholarly products commensurate with level of appointment.


Note: Specific responsibilities will be subject to change based on the needs and budgetary resources of the Health Administration Program. Job descriptions and percentage of FTE will be reviewed and negotiated annually.

The IHP is committed to providing competitive and equitable compensation that reflects each faculty member's experience, expertise, responsibilities, and performance. The expected base salary range for this position is $95,000 to $145,000, based on faculty rank (Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor), qualifications, and discipline. Final compensation will be determined based on a variety of job-related factors such as academic and clinical experience, teaching responsibilities, education, licensure, specialty, training, market, and internal equity. This range represents base salary only and does not include benefits or other elements of total compensation; details about the full compensation and benefits package will be shared during the recruitment process.
