As we scale rapidly globally, the Head of Total Rewards will define and lead IREN's global compensation, equity, benefits and mobility strategy. This is a senior leadership role owning the total rewards function end-to-end and building it for scale in a competitive AI-infrastructure market. The role leads and develops a specialist team, setting the vision, priorities and standards for the function.

Reporting to the VP, People & Culture, the Head of Total Rewards serves as IREN's most senior subject-matter authority on rewards. The role acts as a trusted advisor to executive leadership and the Compensation Committee, partners closely with Finance, Legal and the broader People & Culture leadership team, and is accountable for the governance, competitiveness, compliance and financial stewardship of all rewards programs globally.

Job requirements

  • Develop and execute IREN's global total rewards strategy, ensuring compensation, benefits, equity and mobility programs support business growth, talent attraction and retention across all regions.
  • Serve as the senior rewards advisor to the VP, People & Culture, executive leadership team and Compensation Committee on compensation strategy, executive rewards, governance and market trends.
  • Lead the design and governance of global compensation programs, including job architecture, salary structures, incentive plans, annual compensation reviews and pay transparency initiatives.
  • Oversee IREN's equity compensation programs, including executive and broad-based equity plans, grant governance, communications and administration.
  • Develop and evolve globally competitive benefits, retirement and wellbeing programs that meet the needs of a diverse and geographically distributed workforce.
  • Establish and oversee IREN's global mobility and immigration framework, enabling the efficient movement of talent across jurisdictions while ensuring compliance and a positive employee experience.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition, Finance, Legal and business leaders to support workforce planning, international expansion and the entry into new markets.
  • Lead rewards due diligence and integration activities for acquisitions, ensuring successful harmonization of compensation, benefits and mobility programs.
  • Own the total rewards budget and financial planning processes, including compensation cost modelling, forecasting and workforce investment analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable compensation, benefits, tax, employment, securities and immigration regulations across all jurisdictions.
  • Leverage data, analytics and technology to provide executive insights, inform decision-making and continuously improve rewards effectiveness.
  • Build and lead a high-performing global Total Rewards team, fostering capability, innovation and operational excellence.


Job responsibilities

  • 15+ years of progressive compensation, equity and benefits experience, including significant experience leading the total rewards function at a high-growth or publicly listed company.
  • Proven people-leadership experience, including managing and developing senior individual contributors and other people leaders (eg. Director- and Manager-level rewards professionals).
  • Deep expertise across the full rewards spectrum - compensation design, job architecture, incentive plan design, equity/long-term incentive administration, benefits and global mobility.
  • Demonstrated experience advising executive leadership and Compensation Committees, including executive compensation and board-level reporting.
  • Experience operating across multiple jurisdictions; strong working knowledge of multi-jurisdiction compensation, benefits and pay-equity requirements.
  • Strong commercial and analytical acumen, including compensation cost modeling and budget ownership; advanced proficiency with HRIS and analytics tools (HiBob experience an asset).
  • Executive presence and outstanding communication skills, with the ability to influence at the most senior levels and make complex rewards concepts clear to any audience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance or a related field; advanced degree and/or relevant certification (eg. CCP, CECP) preferred.
  • Experience in a fast-scaling technology, data center, or AI/HPC environment is highly desirable.

  • The expected base salary for this role ranges from $195,000-$235,000 CAD.
