Job Overview

The Product Leader is responsible for leading UNRL's product organization, ensuring we create innovative, premium products that meet the needs of our customers, strengthen the UNRL brand, and support profitable growth.

Reporting to executive leadership, this leader oversees Line Management, Design, Product Development, and SMU, while partnering closely with Planning, Supply Chain, Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Operations.

This role is responsible for defining the product vision and strategy, building a high-performing product organization, and creating the processes, standards, and operating rhythms required to consistently bring the right product to market at the right time, cost, quality, and margin.

Responsibilities

  • Lead UNRL's Product organization across Line Management, Design, Product Development, and SMU, establishing clear priorities, accountability, and alignment across functions.
  • Define the overall product vision, strategy, category priorities, and long-range roadmap based on company objectives, consumer insights, and market opportunities.
  • Lead the development of seasonal assortments and product architecture that balance consumer needs, brand vision, innovation, revenue, margin, and inventory productivity.
  • Lead Line Management in defining assortment strategy, product briefs, pricing, collection vision, and product lifecycle decisions.
  • Lead Design, Development, and SMU to translate product strategy into innovative, premium products that deliver against brand, quality, cost, performance, customization, and timeline expectations.
  • Own the end-to-end product creation process and calendar, establishing clear milestones, decision rights, deliverables, and cross-functional handoffs.
  • Partner with Planning, Supply Chain, Sales, Marketing, and Finance to align product decisions with demand, inventory, margin, sourcing, go-to-market, and business objectives.
  • Lead key seasonal products, assortment, and design reviews, driving timely decisions and alignment across the organization.
  • Evaluate product and category performance to inform future assortment, innovation, investment, and lifecycle decisions, while continuously improving quality, speed-to-market, profitability, and scalability.
  • Build, develop, and coach a high-performing Product organization grounded in creativity, consumer focus, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Product Management, Merchandising, Design, Business, Apparel, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in product management, merchandising, product creation, design leadership, or related functions within apparel, footwear, sporting goods, or premium consumer products.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience building, developing, and coaching high-performing product teams.
  • Demonstrated success developing and executing product strategies that drive brand and commercial growth.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams across merchandising/line management, design, and product development.
  • Deep understanding of the end-to-end apparel product creation process from consumer insight and product brief through design, development, costing, commercialization, and production readiness.
  • Strong understanding of assortment architecture, pricing, product lifecycle management, margin, and commercial performance.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance consumer needs, creative vision, brand strategy, financial objectives, and operational constraints.
  • Experience building scalable product creation processes, seasonal calendars, operating rhythms, and decision-making frameworks.
  • Proven ability to lead effectively in a fast-paced, high-growth, entrepreneurial organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence across functions and partner effectively with Planning, Supply Chain, Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Operations.

Technical Expertise

  • Demonstrated expertise in product strategy, assortment architecture, line planning, and product lifecycle management.
  • Strong understanding of apparel design, materials, construction, fit, development, costing, and commercialization.
  • Strong understanding of consumer insights, market trends, competitive positioning, and category strategy.
  • Experience evaluating product performance using sales, margin, inventory, sell-through, and consumer data.
  • Ability to translate consumer and business insights into actionable product strategies and product briefs.
  • Strong financial acumen with an understanding of product margin, pricing architecture, costing, and assortment productivity.
  • Experience managing seasonal product creation calendars and critical path milestones.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make decisions in ambiguous situations.
  • Ability to evaluate products both creatively and commercially while maintaining a strong point of view on brand and consumer.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills with the ability to articulate product vision and influence strategic decision-making.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting a high-growth apparel, performance, golf, lifestyle, or premium consumer brand.
  • Experience building or scaling a product organization during a period of significant company growth.
  • Experience across both direct-to-consumer and wholesale business models.
  • Experience developing performance apparel and technically constructed products.
  • Experience with customization, embellishment, Team, licensed sports, or collaboration programs.
  • Experience managing external development, manufacturing, sourcing, or decoration partners.
  • Experience implementing product creation systems, tools, and processes that improve speed and scalability.
