About this role:

The Head of Product Portfolio and Risk Management is a senior leadership role within the Wealth & Investment Management (WIM) Chief Product Office (CPO) responsible for establishing and leading an integrated team supporting product portfolio and risk management functions, including portfolio governance, investment planning and prioritization, operating routines, business controls, audit readiness, and product risk governance.

This leader will establish the frameworks, processes, and governance needed to drive transparency, accountability, and effective execution across the product portfolio while ensuring alignment with enterprise expectations, regulatory commitments, business objectives, and CPO priorities.

The role serves as a strategic advisor and execution partner to the Chief Product Officer, helping drive organizational effectiveness, investment decisions, portfolio performance, risk transparency, and cross-functional alignment across the Product organization.

Key Responsibilities

Portfolio Health and Execution Oversight

  • Provide oversight of the CPO portfolio, including initiative status, delivery risks, dependencies, mitigation plans, leadership support needs, and paths to green for critical priorities.

  • Enable transparency, accountability, and executive decision-making across the Product organization.

  • Establish reporting and governance routines that provide actionable insights and portfolio visibility.

Investment Planning and Prioritization

  • Lead investment planning, funding alignment, business case development, resource planning, and prioritization activities across the product portfolio.

  • Ensure investments align with WIM and CPO strategic objectives.

  • Help ensure the organization is investing in the highest-value opportunities, delivering against commitments, and achieving intended business outcomes.

Product Risk, Governance, and Controls

  • Lead centralized oversight of product risk, governance, and business controls across the WIM Chief Product Office.

  • Establish and maintain consistent governance standards, controls, protocols, and accountability routines across the product portfolio.

  • Oversee risk identification, control effectiveness, issue remediation, audit readiness, regulatory commitments, governance reporting, and self-assurance activities.

  • Strengthen risk transparency and business accountability through effective oversight and reporting.

Operational Simplification and AI Enablement

  • Identify opportunities to strengthen controls, simplify processes, improve documentation, reduce risk, and enhance operational effectiveness.

  • Leverage data, automation, and AI-enabled solutions to improve portfolio oversight, governance, reporting, issue management, and decision support capabilities.

Executive Leadership and Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Serve as a strategic advisor and execution partner to the Chief Product Officer.

  • Support executive priorities, leadership forums, organizational effectiveness initiatives, and executive communications.

  • Partner across Product, Technology, Risk, Compliance, Legal, Audit, Finance, and Operations to drive accountability, manage risk, and deliver critical business outcomes.

  • Influence senior leaders and align stakeholders across a highly matrixed environment.

Team Leadership and Talent Development

  • Build and sustain an integrated operating model that enables effective portfolio governance, investment planning, prioritization, performance reporting, risk transparency, and executive decision-making.

  • Lead and develop a high-performing team responsible for portfolio management, product risk governance, controls oversight, operating routines, and investment planning.

  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, collaboration, and execution excellence.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of risk management, business controls, or compliance experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, or education.

  • 4+ years of management or leadership experience.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in product portfolio management, governance, strategy, operations, or related functions within a large, complex organization.

  • Experience leading portfolio governance, investment planning, prioritization, business controls, and risk management functions.

  • Experience managing regulatory, audit, control, and issue remediation programs within a highly regulated environment.

  • Strong investment planning, resource allocation, funding governance, and business case development.

  • Proven ability to influence senior executives and drive alignment across Product, Technology, Risk, Compliance, Finance, Legal, Audit, and Operations.

  • Experience leading organizational transformation, operational improvement, and governance initiatives.

  • Experience leveraging data, automation, and AI capabilities to improve decision-making and operational effectiveness.

  • Wealth Management, Banking, Financial Services, or FinTech experience preferred.
