Full Job Description
The Mission of This Role

We are seeking a Head of Performance who is both people-obsessed and data-obsessed leader who thrives on building systems that scale talent, culture, and compliance with rigor and excellence.

In this role, you will serve as the architect of our talent engine, ensuring our people strategy is as sophisticated as our investment strategy. You will leverage advanced analytics, technology, and proven frameworks to design and lead initiatives across talent acquisition, development, engagement, compliance, and retention. You will steward our people with the same discipline and foresight we apply to capital and building an ecosystem where high performance, alignment, and impact thrive.

What You'll Do

  • Build & Lead People Strategy: Own and execute a comprehensive People Ops roadmap covering recruitment, development, compensation, compliance, and culture.
  • Leverage Data at Scale: Design people analytics dashboards and systems that deliver insights on performance, engagement, retention, and productivity to inform executive decision-making.
  • Drive Talent Excellence: Partner with leadership to identify, attract, and retain world-class talent, ensuring we build lean, elite teams capable of scaling globally.
  • Ensure Compliance & Risk Management: Oversee HR compliance across multi-state operations, safeguarding the firm against risk while building a foundation for global expansion.
  • Champion Culture & Engagement: Foster a culture that embodies Rex values-high performance, boldness, creativity, and mission-driven zeal-while enabling fun, trust, and human flourishing.
  • Scale Systems & Processes: Implement technology, automation, and AI-enabled solutions to deliver a modern, efficient, and high-touch employee experience.
  • Strategic Partner to Leadership: Serve as a trusted advisor to Peter Rex and senior executives, ensuring our people strategy is tightly aligned with business growth and investor stewardship.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • 7-12 years of progressive experience in People Operations, HR leadership, or talent strategy, preferably in high-growth or multi-sector environments.
  • Proven track record of building data-driven people systems that scale talent, elevate culture, and mitigate risk.
  • Mastery of people analytics, HRIS platforms, compliance frameworks, and technology-enabled HR solutions.
  • Exceptional judgment, discretion, and ability to balance analytical rigor with human empathy.
  • Bias for action: executes at "ludicrous speed" while maintaining precision and compliance.
  • Deep alignment with Rex's mission and values; views people as the most vital investment.
  • Individual passion for impact, seeing talent stewardship as a force for both performance and societal good.

Rex Ecosystem-Wide Mission

Catalyze Human Flourishing through our products/services and to elevate/further humanity in all our business dealings.

Rex Values / Rex Culture

  • Customer Fanatic. We fanatically focus on customers, seeking to ever-deliver more value, and inventing/innovating on their behalf.
  • Product/Service Passion. Our business thrives or dies by products/services.
  • Ludicrous speed. Our default pace is extremely fast. Time is precious, life is short; and moving fast is more fun and effective.
  • FAWOMO. We will find a way, or make one.
  • Loves going to war: prefers wartime to peacetime, always hungry to move forward, do more, and push growth.
  • Chutzpah. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Fortune favors the bold. Duc in altum.
  • Fun. We should only do work, over the long run, that's fun; and work with fun people. Jokes and humor welcomed; PC stuff and uptight behavior prohibited.
  • Never-lose-money approach. Protects the downside, using careful analysis before deploying significant resources, and ensuring cash is plentiful; never risking what others have and need for what they don't have and don't need.
  • Other-centered. Idealist, desperate more than anything to leave an impact with their life by helping other people, seeing money as a means to serve.
  • Creative cost cutting constantly. There's always a smarter way, always room to cut, always ways to do more with less - a cost advantage is a competitive edge.
  • Fewer, more capable. Bias to as lean of a team as possible, with the highest competency - reducing communication and coordination, creating more effectiveness.
  • Underdogs. What we've done is nothing compared to what we're going to achieve now. We're fighting to be the best, clawing and biting up and forward, aiming to be the champs, be #1. Scrappy AF no matter how much we accomplish. We've never 'arrived' in our minds. We're the underdogs always.
  • Other attributes valued. Pointblank forthrightness in conversation with teammates, brutally facing problems; velvet glove with iron fist in human dealings; shrewd as a serpent innocent as a dove; hardcore work hustle; invictus mentality; swagger with humility; quiet professionalism; thrifty and not materialistic; loves who they work with, loves what they do, and loves who we serve.
