About the PositionThe Head of Operational Strategy and Community Engagement will sit squarely between Competition and the Business Side of the operation, and will be responsible for helping build and manage the seamless "operating system" between both sides of the team. Reporting to both the President and the Head of Competition, the role connects business strategy, volleyball credibility, operational execution, athlete experience, community growth, and long-term franchise development.
What You Will Do- Operations - Design and lead operational excellence throughout the organization, including workflows, reporting rhythms, department coordinations and accountability systems that promote collaboration across functions.
- Event Operations - in partnership with Marketing, lead planning and execution for major franchise events.
- Competition - Work with the Head of Competition to ensure team operations and athlete services are operationally supported.
- Volleyball Ecosystem - Build relationships across the LA volleyball ecosystem, including community organizations and regional volleyball stakeholders; Help organize, communicate and engage a core group of external constituents.
- Community and Youth Strategy - Develop, organize, and execute the team's community and youth strategy.
- Guide and contribute to a professional, athlete-centered environment through clear communication, operational consistency, player services, community visibility, and alignment with the values of women's professional sport.
- Special initiatives - Lead special projects tied to franchise launch, market development, and ownership priorities.
Qualifications- 7-10 years of relevant experience in professional sports, college athletics, non-profit, or similar business
- Strong communication, presentation and relationship-building skills.
- Knowledge of the Los Angeles sports, business or volleyball community is a plus.
- Experience with a new team, new venue, franchise or other start-up environment is a plus.
- Entrepreneurial mindset and willingness to work hands-on in a growing organization.
- Competitive, organized and results-oriented, with a strong commitment to constituent experience.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends and matches as required.
