Reports To: Chief Financial Officer

Purpose of the Role

As the Head of Financial Planning, you will lead the organization's financial planning and analysis activities, business performance management, budgeting, forecasting, strategic financial decision support, and operational finance functions.

You will partner closely with senior leadership to improve financial performance, support strategic initiatives, optimize resource allocation, and provide actionable insights that drive business growth and profitability. This role will serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership while leading finance business partnering and FP&A teams in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment.

This position focuses on financial planning, performance management, and strategic finance and does not have responsibility for accounting operations, financial reporting, tax, audit management, treasury, banking relationships, debt management, or cash management activities.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • 12-15+ years of progressive finance experience, including significant expertise in financial planning and analysis, business partnering, and performance management.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline; a professional finance designation or continuing education is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated success supporting senior leadership teams and strategic business initiatives.
  • Proven experience leading finance teams and cross-functional projects within complex business environments.
  • Advanced financial modeling, forecasting, and scenario analysis capabilities.
  • Strong expertise in budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, and performance management processes.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems, business intelligence tools, and financial planning software.
  • Advanced Excel and data analysis skills, with the ability to translate complex financial information into actionable business insights.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strategic mindset, sound business acumen, change leadership capability, and a results-oriented approach.
  • Experience supporting mergers and acquisitions, integrations, capital investment evaluations, or strategic partnerships is considered an asset.


What Success Looks Like in This Role

  • Lead the annual budgeting process and multi-year strategic planning process, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives.
  • Develop rolling forecasts, financial outlooks, and scenario analyses that support effective business decision-making.
  • Prepare insightful monthly, quarterly, and annual management reporting packages.
  • Analyze business performance against budgets, forecasts, and strategic targets, identifying key variances, risks, and opportunities.
  • Build financial models that support operational and strategic initiatives, capital investments, and business cases.
  • Act as a strategic advisor to business leaders, partnering with operational teams to evaluate performance drivers and improvement opportunities.
  • Support pricing, profitability, margin enhancement, and cost optimization initiatives across the organization.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators and develop dashboards that improve performance visibility and accountability.
  • Lead profitability, return-on-investment, and operational efficiency analyses that drive continuous improvement.
  • Support corporate strategy development, major business initiatives, and strategic decision-making processes.
  • Provide financial leadership for workforce planning, organizational development initiatives, and operational finance activities.
  • Lead and develop finance business partnering and FP&A teams while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Build strong relationships with executive leadership, department heads, operational leaders, and other key stakeholders.
  • Mentor finance professionals and contribute to talent development and succession planning initiatives.
