Job Description:

We have an opportunity for a Head of Digital Enablement to own and lead the delivery of bp's Mobility & Convenience Americas (M&CA) digital portfolio - turning strategy into shipped products and platforms that drive growth, customer experience, and efficiency. This is a senior leadership role for someone who pairs the structured problem-solving rigor of a top-tier strategy house with deep delivery instinct: owning the digital roadmap, leading agile, product-based delivery at pace, and being accountable for measurable business outcomes. You will lead a team and set the delivery standard across squads.

As Head of Digital Enablement, you own the end-to-end delivery of select digital projects for M&CA. You translate strategy into executable roadmaps, prioritize to maximize value, and embed strong governance, delivery discipline, and continuous improvement. Working closely with Technology, Product, Engineering, Architecture, and business leaders, you ensure digital initiatives ship at pace, with quality, and aligned to business priorities.

Location

This role is ideally based in Chicago, Louisville, or Cleveland and operates under a hybrid work structure. In support of our leadership presence philosophy, we are seeking candidates who can regularly work from one of these core office locations. Other U.S. locations may be considered for the right candidate, subject to business needs and discussion.

Core accountabilities (shared across the leadership team)
  • Strategy to execution: translate enterprise and Customers-level strategy into clear, actionable roadmaps with milestones, KPIs, and success measures.
  • Portfolio leadership & accountability: own a portfolio of high-impact initiatives; manage interdependencies and risk, and be accountable for on-time delivery of outcomes and value.
  • Insight & decision leadership: direct advanced analyses - financial modeling, value assessment, benchmarking - and make the calls, turning complex data into decisions for senior leaders.
  • Executive narrative ownership: author and present compelling narratives for governance forums, performance reviews, and board-level updates; chair governance where you own the agenda.
  • Team leadership & capability building: lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team; raise the bar on structured thinking, delivery discipline, and ways of working.

What sets this role apart
  • Own the digital delivery strategy: define and lead the digital delivery strategy for M&CA and prioritize the portfolio to maximize business value.
  • Enable products & platforms: partner with Technology, Product, Engineering, Customers to ship scalable, reusable digital products and platforms.
  • Set delivery excellence: establish and continuously improve agile delivery frameworks, governance, tools, and metrics across squads.
  • Own value realization: ensure digital initiatives deliver measurable outcomes - revenue growth, cost efficiency, and customer impact - and track benefits realization.

You will join bp's Mobility & Convenience Americas team - a group built to bring pace, rigor, and delivery discipline to one of bp's most dynamic businesses. You will partner with a broad network across Technology, Products, Operations, Finance, Digital, and engage regularly with M&CA leadership, including the VP of Portfolio, Network & Delivery.

What you will need to be successful - We are looking for an exceptional problem-solver with a strong delivery instinct and the seniority to lead. For this role, we require deep experience leading agile, product-based delivery of digital products and platforms at scale, plus a strong understanding of modern digital architectures.

Experience (tiered)
  • Essential: 10-15+ years of post-university experience, including team leadership, with a strong foundation in top-tier management consulting - McKinsey, BCG, or Bain. Significant experience leading complex, cross-functional digital delivery portfolios is essential for this role.
  • Strongly preferred: subsequent experience in oil & gas, ideally downstream (fuels, retail fuels, convenience, mobility).
  • Nice to have: hands-on experience in retail and/or convenience.
  • Education: bachelor's degree or relevant professional qualification (MBA beneficial but not required).

Key skills
  • Structured thinking & judgment: frame complex problems, test hypotheses, and make sound, data-driven decisions under ambiguity.
  • Advanced analytics: strong quantitative and qualitative skills - financial modeling, market assessment, scenario analysis, and clear synthesis.
  • Execution & delivery leadership: lead teams and complex plans, coordinate stakeholders, and deliver high-quality outcomes at pace.
  • Executive-ready communication: author and present compelling narratives to senior leadership, with strong written, verbal, and visual skills.
  • Cross-functional leadership: influence and align diverse teams and functions, integrating multiple perspectives into cohesive outcomes.
  • Commercial & external awareness: understand customer dynamics, market trends, competitive landscapes, and relevant policy - ideally in energy, mobility, or retail.

About BP

BP p.l.c. is a British multinational oil and gas company headquartered in London, England. It is one of the oil and gas "supermajors" and one of the world's largest companies measured by revenues and profits. It is a vertically integrated company operating in all areas of the oil and gas industry, including exploration and extraction, refining, distribution and marketing, power generation, and trading. BP's origins date back to the founding of the Anglo-Persian Oil Company in 1908, established as a subsidiary of Burmah Oil Company to exploit oil discoveries in Iran. In 1935, it became the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company and in 1954, adopted the name British Petroleum. In 1959, the company expanded beyond the Middle East to Alaska. British Petroleum acquired majority control of Standard Oil of Ohio in 1978. Formerly majority state-owned, the British government privatised the company in stages between 1979 and 1987. British Petroleum merged with Amoco in 1998, becoming BP Amoco plc, and acquired ARCO and Burmah Castrol in 2000 and Aral AG in 2002. The company's name was shortened to BP p.l.c. in 2001. From 2003 to 2013, BP was a partner in the TNK-BP joint venture in Russia, and from 2013 until Russia's 2022 invasion of Ukraine, held a nearly 20% stake in Rosneft.
