The Opportunity

Reporting to the Vice President, Finance, the Head of Corporate Finance will be a key member of the Finance team and will play a central role in managing the company’s cash flow, liquidity, risk management, and management reporting.

Through close partnership with key stakeholders, the Head of Corporate Finance will own the annual operating plan, monthly management reporting, board reporting, treasury, and risk management processes. This role will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure accurate reporting, support the development of financial metrics, and drive best practices across the finance organization. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the company’s internal controls and policies and will serve as a key business partner across multiple areas of the business.

Responsibilities:

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Serves as Finance Business partner for central support functions

  • Key point of contact for Corporate functions including all SG&A budgeting, forecasting and analysis

  • Execute standardized monthly and quarterly reporting to executive leadership, including the board of directors.

  • Liaison with finance counterparts in Canopy’s portfolio businesses – Canada, International, and Storz & Bickel

  • Process owner for consolidated annual budgeting, forecasting and reporting cycles, as well as strategic planning

  • Identify opportunities for cost savings throughout the organization, viewing change as an opportunity

  • Leverage systems and technology to enhance process automation and efficiency to “do more with less”

  • Support potential acquisitions through due diligence and financial support

  • Other duties as assigned

Treasury

  • Manage the company’s 3-statement financial model. This includes updating for the latest operating plan, updating assumptions based on the current landscape and trends, and working with various business units to check the validity of inputs

  • Oversee delivery of accurate weekly cash flow forecast reports to support liquidity planning and decision-making

  • Manage the Treasury Management System (TMS) to ensure accurate bank balances and provide timely daily cash position reports

  • Collaborate with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable teams to ensure payments and collections are processed accurately, on time, and in line with company expectations

  • Foster existing banking relationships to ensure proper services levels are maintained

  • Coordinate with service providers to ensure timely execution of debt and interest payments

  • Monitor and maintain compliance with debt covenants as outlined in the company’s credit agreements

Risk Management

  • Lead the design, implementation, and administration of the company’s corporate insurance program, including property, casualty, liability, D&O, cyber, and other specialized coverages.

  • Manage the annual insurance renewal process, working closely with brokers and carriers to secure optimal terms, pricing, and coverage

  • Partner with internal stakeholders (legal, finance, IT, operations, HR) to identify and assess business risks and ensure appropriate insurance coverage

Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting/Business or equivalent required;

  • CPA/MBA certification or equivalent strongly preferred;

  • 10+ years of relevant and progressive experience in finance, accounting, treasury or risk roles

  • Cannabis industry knowledge preferred

  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint proficiency coupled with analytical skills.

  • Occasional travel required.

  • Very strong analytical skills, research skills, and business acumen – ability to rapidly come up to speed on new issues and identify the critical questions to be addressed;

  • Strong communications skills and ability to communicate and influence all levels in the organization including a broad base of finance and business partners;

  • Comfort working through ambiguity and in a rapidly changing environment;

  • Initiative and results oriented;

  • Experience presenting to and maintaining relationships with executive level management

  • Strong attention to detail;

  • Strategic thinking;

  • Ability to build productive relationships; and

  • Proficiency in planning, prioritization and project management.
